First of all I gotta say it's really great to find this place.

I have moved america for a year so let me excuse my poor

english before the beginning. (hmm..)

<Simple intro as Club beginner)

Name : Jun

I drove Skyline 32 in my country, though honestly I didn't

know about Anything about the car. (I know how to drive.. ;) )

I had a mechanic friend (he drove impreza..) so I really

didn't worry about my poor knowledge.

Then I moved America and bought a RSX.

(Actually I had completly no idea how racing things going

in america.. such as where I can buy Engine or other parts.)

My car even has Automatic. (It's killing me... too boring......)

Anyway I didn't want any trouble in Us at the first time...........

Now I think it's time to buy a new car...

and I came up with S13 Silvia which is Good for DRFT.

I believe it's a ideal machine... (my 32 couldn't do drft...)

And more important thing is I can afford the price.

(Body + engine + other stuff... I wish~)

So cut the my personal crap and let me ask you guys a

question.

Which Year and What model do u prefer?

I know it's kinda of silly question but I want to get many

opinions.

Actually I have read about the 240 s info in here but

It reminds me that everything has different name and different

yr in US. (it's really confusing....) also I don't have technical

knowledge yet.

So please help me~

and I attache a Photo which I got from web.

(add: http://store3.yimg.com/I/jspec_1768_59112674)

It's the model what I used call S13 silvia and see.

what year and model is it?

All kind of opinion are welcome.

ps. anyway many 240sx lovers seem to live in CA.

(actually most of car-lover... something special in CA?)

Who lives in Philly? (PA) -i am asking because I live in philly.

hmm.. I need to find local community..... hmm...

The picture of the car you attached is an S13, meaning it was made from 1989-1994. The front end is from a nissan silvia which was never sold here. The hatchback model was also made from 89-94 and is also called the s13. These are most ideal cars for people here, because they are cheap, and very easy to get parts for.We also got the S14 here and they were made from 1995-1998. They are more expensive.

If you search around on the board you can find lots of details on doing motor swaps, suspension, brakes, and any other sort of upgrade you could want.

Oh, and there are lots of 240 lovers in Philly!!!! I live in philly and there are many other NICO members in the Philadelphia region. We are starting a club, and have had one meet so far. Feel free to email me at [email protected] or im at :ride 4 lameI can get you details on the next meet and you can come check out come 240's! Thanks

First off, welcome to NICO and I hope you stay with us for a while. That is actually a 240sx coupe that has the silvia conversion. Only reason you can tell is because the driver seat, the car is left hand drive. It can be confusing but you will catch on. The silvia and the 240sx are honestly almost the same exact cars, the only difference is in America we have the KA24DE engine (1990 and down have a KA24E) and Japan has the SR20DET. The SR20DET is a very common motor swap for the 240sx owners. Reason being is because it is pretty much a drop in swap. Nothing to deep to modify when swaping because the cars are very much the same. If you want the S13 Silvia look then i suggest you look for a S13 coupe and then buy the conversion. Thats honestly the easiest way you will have one. In the USA you can pick up a S13 fairly cheap now a days. I suggest you search http://autotrader.com you will find many there in your price range. I wouldn't spend more then $3,000USD on one. I hope I helped you out some, Good Luck finding what you are after and welcome to the States and NICO :)

A Slight Breakdown of the model here in America (if something is wrong here guys, please correct me) ....

USDM Model Break Down ...USDM (1989-1994) 240SX Coupe (1994 was convertible only) = JDM S13 Silvia (Except USDM has a different Front End and KA motor vs. JDM's SR)

USDM (1989 -1993) 240SX Hatchback = JDM 1989-1993 180SX (Except USDM has KA motor vs. JDM's CA)

USDM (1995-1998) 240SX = JDM S15 Silvia (Except USDM has different front end and KA motor vs. JDM's SR)

USDM Engine Breakdown ...1989-1990 = KA24E (2.4L SOHC In-line 4 Cyclinder)1991*-1998 = KA24DE (2.4L DOHC In-line 4 Cylinder)

* The 1991 vesion of the KA24DE has a 248 degree Intake and Exhaust cam profile

I know guys this is general infomation that can be done with a search, but i just wanted to help the guy out.

Go test drive every 240 thats on sale in the Philly area. I'm pretty sure all the years drive the same [flame me for I am stupid]. Just buy one that has little or no prolems.

As for my preferences? '96 240sx :P

Heh, you're lucky you have a 'community' in Philly unlike me.

Actualy, i think like the cams or something in the 1991 model engines were the best for some reason or another, somebody who cares(or knows or feels like looking it up?), feel free to back me up on this:) That would make, year 1991 the best year, I mean if you want to get technical and all, hehe

sssooo...wtf now??:D
