I've owned 3 Volvos, their respective mileage was: 378,000, 298,000 and 3000,000 miles before i sold them. All 3 continue to run years later, so I assume their mileages may all exceed the 400K mark. Also had a VW fastback with 238,000 miles prior to selling it. The key--- tons of preventive maintanence!!!

K&N has a similar (or same?) story on their web site. They gave the dude a new truck as a reward.

Overall opinion = dubious.

The truck has had four radiators, three gas tanks, five transmissions and six water pumps, but the engine has never been overhauled, Oresnik said.

I hear what you're saying, but a chevy block going 1 million miles is, well, let's call it divine intervention and leave it at that...

That was a different guy. Apparently he has all of his service records to prove mileage.

Why is it so difficult to get people to just change oil every 90 days?............even with expensive synthetics.

During past 18 years and 318k..................I've changed my oil 92 times averaging 5 times per year. Just at 3.3 barrels of oil..............sometimes as often as every 3 weeks.

This is truely remarkable. My little nissan now has 246K with the same original engine, original transmission, third clutch, 2nd radiator, 2nd fuel pump, 2nd starter, original fuel injectors, and tons of routine maintenance. Oil change is about 4 - 5 times a years---without fail.

Car does not burn engine oil and does not leak engine oil. Has never disappointed me, except when first radiator and first clutch gave way at age 8. Transmission leak is one drop every 2-4 months (been that way for years). And then, I flog the car everytime I drive it, and she responds. I have used Castrol GTX 20W-50 dino oil since 95K, till this day. I have never added any additive into the engine, and I won't.

Cars can last a long time once you give it what it needs. In fact, I found out that the harder I drive my car, the better it responds, and the longer its parts last. I have had more small problems with my car sitting in the drive way than when I drive it. So, even though I have a G-35 Coupe, I still have to drive my Nissan so that it does not fall apart or give up the ghost on me.

I'm curious as to what the highest mileage a G has seen yet.

My I30 is sitting at 278k. I can honestly see her pushing 350k with some maintenance.

I'm not sure about the Gs though. After '99, Nissan seemed to change pace and loose the die-hard quality in place of performance and plastic.

Not the way some drive their G's

1,000,000 miles divided by 300 oil changes equals 3333.333 miles per oil change.

This is exactly what I've been doing for over 40 years.
