Hey whats up I was just wondering how you can tell if you have an obdI or obdII system in your car. Because someone told me that late year 95 240's were odII. I was just wondering since I own a 95 se and want to know if there was anyway i could tell

Look at the diagnostic connectors. I think the '95s had both types, but not sure if it was fully OBDII compliant.

From my understanding, there were 3 types of 95's. The earliest were obd1, then obd1.5 (obd2 diagnostic sonnector, but not all of the features), and the latest were fully compliant obd2.I remember someone saying that his 95 had different connectors on the intake manifold (right above the coolant hose) than his buddy's 96.

Here's a pic of my 96...

Let us know if you see something different. Ive never found a sure way to tell...

i have a totalled 95 240sx in my garaged and want to swap the motor into my 91. dont know how to check for obd1 or 2 . if turns out to be obd2 i have to swap the intake and exhause mani's right? that seems to be such a hassle, since i have the whole car, cant i just keep the intake and exhaust mani's and just swap over the ob2 ecu or is that more of a pain in the ***?

The wiring to use the OBDII ecu would be a nightmare. Just swap the manifolds and distributor and be done with it. Gaskets are cheap.

Thanks for your help

I took my car the other day to autozone to get a check engine light checked, yeah i know autozone aint the best place but its free. Well anyways they only do 96 and up cars because they're obII diagnostic reader wont work on obI. And it worked perfectly on mine so i'll assum it has at least obI.5 until it blows up in my driveway
