Post

I just bought a 2009 Versa SL Hatchback with 14000 miles on it. I love this car however, I have been having a problem with the radio. At first when I would park the car and turn it off the radio would keep playing or if it was off the light and clock would stay on. This car has the intelligent key so I figured it had something to do with that so I would walk away and later when I would come back the radio and light was off. The radio and light turn off when the car turns off now so I don't know if this is an issue anymore.

Now, twice in the past 4 days, the radio has randomly turned itself on in the middle of the night while the key is no where near the car. I have not been able to replicate the problem intentionally.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem or does anyone have any ideas? Since it seems to happen randomly can the dealer service actually do any thing to fix it?

Thanks for any help you can give me

I've heard of windows rolling down by themselves from time to time with Nissan vehicles but never the stereo itself. The only time the stereo should be able to be turned on is when the ignition is "ON" or in "ACC". Might be a problem with the ignition switch.

Really? That would be really freaky to witness, and hopefully that never happens. I wouldn't want everything in my car being stolen :

Your car should still be under the normal 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. Did you fill all the paperwork out and send it in to get the warranty in your name?

If yes, then the radio is covered under that warranty. I'd discuss it with your local dealer and they can in turn discuss it with Nissan service. Even if they can't replicate it, they may replace the radio anyway.

Mine too! Mine too! I have a 2007 previously owned Versa SL. On Sat. her battery was dead. We thought the interior lights had been left on somehow, so we just replaced the battery. Then, we noticed the radio and clock were on when she was off. Of course, we could turn off the sound on the radio, but the clock stayed on so we knew it wasn't turning off when the car turned off. We took her to the dealer, but as soon as I turned off the car the clock turned off, too. He couldn't get to her for several days, anyway, so I took her back home. As soon as the dealer closed for the weekend (I swear she was watching the clock!), I was sitting in her after she had successfully turned off and her radio suddenly came on. Then off. Then on. So, I called the dealer and have an appt. for Friday. Until then, she's being disconnected when not in use. Sadly, since she's a 2007, I doubt she's under warranty. I'll let you know what I discover Friday...

hopefully it's just the radio and then you can replace or take it as an opportunity to upgrade. :woot:

Just got a diagnosis. Her harnesses have corroded. Apparently, it's a known issue but there hasn't been a recall. Luckily, she's under warranty! Thanks for the support!!
