I haven't been on these forums in years, but I recently had some issues with my engine and am at a point with it where I have a broken part no one can recognize, so I was hoping to reach out and see if anyone had some ideas. My car was having some issues, idling with low rpms and sometimes cutting off at a stop sign/speed bump because of that. This happened for about a week and then I was headed in to get it looked at/fixed when it died again, slowing down behind stopped traffic. It wouldn't restart immediately and when it did it was making a clanging sound. Which was thought to be a rod, bearing, or lifter making the noise. It got louder with acceleration. I drove the car from the location I had stopped, maybe a 1/4 mile up the road to where I get my oil changes and talked to the guys that run that shop. Just before they did anything I was getting like 2-5 PSI Oil pressure, after putting a new oil filter on and topping the oil off, I was getting about 15 PSI Oil pressure at idle. The oil was a little bit darker than normal, but there aren't any leaks or anything and it was full when I got there. I've kept my oil changed/clean on time as long as I've had the car. Once the Oil Pressure was back to about 15 PSI at idle, I drove it directly across the road to a mechanic. The noise was louder after we put the oil filter on.
They didn't have much time to do much to it yet, but after taking the lower oil pan off, we found a few parts in it. No one has a clue of what they are yet, and I'm trying to find out. I'm hoping you guys can help some, I have a picture of the big part that was laying in the pan. It was broken in half and there were some smaller pieces that looked chewed up that would theoretically fit to make the bigger part whole. It's roughly 5" in diameter and about 1/2 - 1" wide, about 1/16" thick. It seemed to be slightly tapered, but that could be from it getting thrashed. There was also a small pin we found in the pan. I'm hoping someone around here has some idea of what this may be a part of, and they may have figured it out by time I find out as they dig deeper in but I'm trying to do what I can to get my car back running.
