Every morning what sounds like a loud tick coming form the engien are when I'm driving. Thr car is not put under a heavy load by any standard. Until it reaces "normal" operating temprature, its just really loud. Any ideas ? I have taken to the local dealership but did not leave it over night for a proper diag.

I guess, the question is, how loud is 'really' loud?

I come from Subarus, where valvetrain noise is normal, so by my standards my SpecV's nearly silent ticking until she warms up is almost not noticeable to me. I would say that if it's going away by the time the car reaches normal operating temp, it should be fine.

Remember that multiweight oil is thinner on startup, and it is summer time... so until the engine warms up fully, the oil is pretty thin. One it reaches operating temperature though, it's thicker comparatively. So the cold, thin oil could cause some of the sound.

If it really concerns you though, I'd take it back to the dealer and ask, especially if it's under warranty still.

Yea,
I need to take it back. I have 8 years as a Toyota service advisor at different states with different climates and I would never relaese a car to a customer if it sounded like mine does.

Oh yeah. If it's that bad, then take it back. :frown:
