Does anyone have an 09 Murano with factory installed tow package? I'd appreciate it if someone can post pics. Nissan and dealer have not been helpful in this regard.

TIA.

First off, wecome to NICOclub! We are all glad you are here, the more the merrier! Feel free to post some pics of the new Murano on our Photo Thread.

As for your question, I personally have not seen the '09 with the tow package on it yet. I did own an '03 Murano with the tow package and it really looked good. The hitch didn't stick out far or anything like that, came with the nice rubber cover, and it looked not quite concealed, but neat and clean. All you could see was the receiver, you could see the rest of the members that bolted to the frame, they were well hidden under the bumper. I know this isn't an '09, but for now, I hope it helps, if I see an '09 when I am at the dealer, I will snap a photo with my cell for you.

Thx. Well, I went out on a limb. Agreed to buy one today (2WD SL, white, premium, leather, tech, roof, misc). Should be ready tomorrow and will bring home if my inspection and test drive are ok. Dealer will price in the tow package and add later in their shop. Would have preferred it from factory, but not many out there. Will see how it goes.

The tow pkg I had on my '03 was added at the factory.

I just an 09 LE AWD, and the dealer priced me at $1000 installed. Let me know what they tell you. I'd like to haggle with this guy. If you get it, will you send a pic? I really want one, but they said they would have to cut and reshape the bumper.

I pretty much pay straight invoice for new cars (less any rebates / incentives, of which there are none on the Murano right now). Invoice on the tow package is $584, but they charged $598 or $599 and I didn't argue. Keep in mind, that's what I got as a part of the new car buy. If you own the car already and then ask the service dept to install, yes, it's a lot more.

I just bought it on Monday. 1000 was what they were going to charge on the day of purchase, or today, either way.

I had negotiated the price of mine at $300 under invoice and to close the deal, they agreed to add the tow package for nothing. $1000 seems crazy for something you can get on ebay for $115 and the harness from Nissan for $95.

They said that to do it at the dealership, they were going to have to reshape my bumper, unlike ordering it from the factory.

Honestly, i'm a terrible negotiator. I hate car dealerships, and I just want to get the hell out of there.

However, even if it is 1000, I just don't want them having to modify the car like that. If that is not the case, I'll shop around and see if someone else will do it. I've got a good friend that owns a custom auto shop. He just installed 4 new Incubus 20" for me and sold my Murano 20" for 600, so i paid 600 for the new rims. Sweet. I'll post pics in a seperate thread.

It is true that there is a modification to the bumper required, but if I remember correctly, it's a factory made part and doesn't require them "reshaping" or anything major. It's a simple "cutout" of sorts. If you wanted to do it right, here is a list of parts from one of the sites:http://mynissanparts.com/pc-99....aspx

I can't seem to recall where I saw the bumper cover specifically called out -- maybe it's included in the silly $401 receiver mentioned in the above link.

Just trying to help out as much as I can.

Thanks. I'm checking with my guy now to see what his cost is. I have to have something for more space, as I downsized from an Envoy. Either a roof rack cargo carrier, or a tow hitch carrier (which is used with the Envoy.) Any suggestions on roof carriers?

Gravyvader,

Who did or will do your install? Have they got the parts yet?

I got mine done by JR's Custom Auto. A good friend of mine works there, his brother owns it:

My cost was about 340, not sure if that was "friend" deal or not, but it looks good and it has a higher towing capacity than what the dealership was going to sell me, and no cutting on my bumper.

Thx for posting it for me. Looks like they didn't need to notch into the bumper at all. Surprised me.

I'd still like to see pics of others.

Timmbo, Is this installation similar to what was factory installed on your '03? Or any significant changes?

Honestly, yours looks exactly the same as my '03 Murano looked. Same with mine, NO notches cut.

Yup, that (coachro's) looks exactly like what they put on mine yesterday.

Please tell us more about the $15 T-wire. Where did you get it? Were any other connections needed? Did you have to run wires to the battery?

Have installed a draw tite hitch and it's fine. The wiring harness I ordered f rom them does not have any plus that bear any resemblance to the plugs at the 09 Murano tail lights so your seemingly easy hook up is very interesting.

Where from, and what part number is "your" wiring harness?

The one I purchased was $55 yet I have yet to install. If per directions it should just be plug-n-play with exception to two wires.

Thanks

Hum 10 to 15? I got a full harness (no cutting) for 50 bucks at Etrailer. I tow a 5X10 cargo trailer with Dirt bikes. Tows great.

Hello all, I found this forum because I wanted to take to Murano owners with towing exsperience. I am in the process of installing the receiver and wiring on my 09 LE AWD. When I bought it I asked the dealer what was involved in the tow package and was told that the receiver and wiring harness was about it. Hidden Hitch supplied the parts for about $150 and I suppliedthe three hours to install them.

In the past a tow package included a transmission oil cooler but the CVT transmission requires one weather towing or not.

The receiver went on smoothly without cutting any thing and is barely noticible.

Hope this information was of some help.

I'm about to buy an '05 Murano SL and will need to install a hitch. This one looks great!

Any idea of the make/model of the hitch in your picture?

Thanks,

Steven W.

Coachro's Murano - sorry I didn't clarify.

Thanks!

Edit - I see now after reading more carefully, that is the dealer installed pkg.
