I've got such a headache with this one. So I get in my car by opening the doors with my Intelligent Key (in other words, the battery isn't dead). Once inside the car, the Key Light blinks on even though I had the key in my hand. I can't start the car or even press the brake in, the car won't go into ACC mode because it doesn't detect the key (again, I'm able to lock, unlock doors, open hood and even sound off the alarm through the same Intelligent key..?)

What I've tried:
Yelling
Kicking
in addition...
unplugging the battery for over 30 minutes in hopes of 'restarting' the alarm system
putting in the Intelligent key into the slot where the key goes (off the left side of the steering wheel) ..still Key light blinks indicating I need a key
tried locking doors and re-entering with the key that normally gets given to valet
checked fuse #10 (remote eng. start)
*went home and grabbed spare Intelligent key, same problem

Is there anything else I should be doing? I'm gotta assume someone else has had this problem..? Thanks to all who read this and can offer any advice.

Jon

Just to be clear, your spare keys are doing the same thing? If so, it sounds like you're going to have to go to the dealer to get the keys and the car synced back up.

Quick web search yielded this;

Get into your vehicle. Close and lock all the doors.

Pull the lever that releases the trunk. Remain seated in your vehicle with all the doors closed and locked.

Quickly insert and remove the key into the ignition six consecutive times. This must be done in 10 seconds or less. The interior lights of your Nissan will illuminate once this step is completed successfully.

Unlock and re-lock your driver's side door manually, then push any key on your key fob once.

Hey, first off, thanks for reading my post! To answer your question, yes both keys have the same issue.

I ended up taking the car to the dealer, they checked it out and said it wasn't the keys but instead the 'module'..something (can't remember the rest of it) within the car. They ordered the part and it should be done by this time next week. Luckily, this is covered by the warranty. Sucks not having a car for Christmas! will be spending it @ home now because of this BUT I'm glad it's not something wrong with the car that I'd have to pay for.

Thanks guys

This seems to be a common problem with the '09 Maxima. Have the dealership fix the problem under warranty----there should be a TSB on this matter by now too.
