That's a tough one. Doubtless the Maxima is a much classier car. But there's no way 290 front drive horsepower can compete with 360 rear drive horsepower.

If Nissan does an AWD diesel version of it, then it'll be a real contender. Say hello to 400+ AWD torque. Goodbye competition.

There is also rumors of a Maxima SR model... should be exciting!! Check out Edmunds.com . They also did a review.

Oh and also! That review! If the Maxima hed been sent there with a six speed manual it would have done the 0-60 test and maybe even 1/4 mile faster than the G8. Every gen Max has out performed cars with way more HP than it. Even today my 4th gen will beat cars with 270 (Acura TL)

why would anyone want a US made piece of crap? i got an 05 bonneville thinking it would be awesome...3.8L not supercharged is way weaker than my 95 max, no room in the back seat even though it's bigger and the quality of the interior...way inferior with cheap *** plastics.

the thing i like about the bonnie is that it's big, new, has a nice rumble and the engine is easy as hell to work on - will be supercharging in the future.

This is a much different story than the Bonneville. It has a small block V8, the world's greatest motor, and is actually made in Australia, not the US. It's based on a much higher-end GM global platform that will be shared with, among other brands, Cadillac. It's really an excellent car and a heck of a deal at $36k. It's not your typical modern American car.

Between the two, I'd definitely take the G8. But with $36k I'd rather find a MINT 2006 Q45 Sport and have some change left over than buy either of them.

Wait...Are you saying that the engine in the G8 is actually the worlds greatest motor or that small block V8's are the worlds greatest?

And I beleive you it could be an amazing motor! But Nissan's pulled 310 out of a 3.5L and the G8 has 360 out of a 6.0L. It just seems like its being held back and could do alot more with whats its got!
