Just purchased a New 09 Hybrid. Was able to purchase it 12/31 so I could get the tax credit this year. Will be delivered from Mass on Wednesday.

Silver with charcoal interior. Loaded. My first ever "new" car purchase. Said I would never buy a new car, but the December rebates were hard to pass up.

Im just going to tint the windows (have appt. saturday) and drive it.

Any advice. Only manual I can find online is for an 08. Assume it is probably identical. Start process seems a bit diffent for warm-up, ect.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have put 300 miles on my 09 so far. I am really suprised at how well it moves.

One thing I am struggling with is how to get it to start without putting it in gear. 29 degrees this morning and 3" of snow. Just wanted to warm it up before I left.

Wife has it at work, will read the manual as I am sure it explains it there.

Did have the windows tinted with Llumar Formula One tint. Really looks nice.

Congrats on the Altima Hybrid! It's a pretty quick car as far as hybrid go, and I love driving mine. The car has the same suspension as the Altima 3.5 SE, so the ride is nicely firm. Add a Stillen rear sway bar and that will dial-out a lot of the understeer in turns, and makes the car that much more fun.

As for warm-ups... I just let the car do its thing. I am pretty meticulous on my other cars to let things warm up, but on the NAH, the hybrid powertrain control module controls when the engine starts/stops. You can wait a while in park until the engine starts, or you can just drive slowly and use the electric motor and let the PCU control when the engine starts. I prefer the latter and, after 61K miles (in 1.5 years!), no ill effects.

The easiest way to force the engine to come on without putting it in gear is to turn on the heater. The car still uses engine coolant heat to heat the passenger cabin so the engine will instantly turn on to get the heater core hot. Just a thought.

Found if you press and hold the gas pedal for a few seconds it will start.

Turned 1K miles today. Only issue is flat spots, from sitting so long, with the tires that I am trying to get dealership to pay to replace. The shake on the highway is annoying.

Dealer here in TX wont cover it under warranty, told me to take it back to dealership to have them replace the tires. Hard when that is 1500 miles away in Mass.

Hurry up an and wait I guess.

I'm curious what other mods you've done, or any other tips/tricks you could suggest? I jut purchased a 2009 with 44Kmi. Need to get it tinted soon (can't decide what %). I haven't seen any other 2009 model owners so far.
