Purchased a new hybrid late January. Live in TX, purchased it out of Mass. Keep in mind, my first new car purchase ever! Typically buy 2 year old off lease Volvos, BMW's, ect. Took new job, drive more mile, work more hours and wanted new economical car that I would not have any issues with. Loaded altima hybrid was a modest purchase and one that seemed practical. To make a long story short, car has been nothing but a pain in the Arse! Best is when people ride in it for the first time and say "man, this thing shakes".......

Car is an 09 Altima Hybrid. Was delivered with 19 miles, and now has 6000. Has a shake on the hwy over 60 mph that they have been unable to fix.

1. Took it in and dealer second week of ownership, replaced tires, said they had flat spots. Still shakes.

2. Took it back in left it for a day, and they rebalanced tires. Still shakes.

3. Took it back again, and left it for the day, rotate and balance. Still shakes.

4. Took it back to dealer (same dealer as 1 &2 above), they kept it two days, supposedly more than one tech and two service guys drove it on several roads and surfaces, no shake. Told me nothing they can do and to call 1800 Nissan 1 and see if they can help........Car still shakes.

Took it to another Nissan dealership in the area and talked service guy into going for a ride with me, took about a 1/4 mile on the access road and he noticed the shake... got worse once we got on the HWY. Told me they could not touch car without charging me as Nissan paid the other dealership to correct the issue and I needed to take it back to them.

Called Nissan 1 and made a claim. A few days later get a call and tell me to take it back to dealer.

4. Call Service Mgr. says they are busy, and holiday weekend coming up call him next week to get it in. Leave 3 messages for him the following week, finally stop by the dealership to see if I can get my car fixed and Service Mgr. had a family emergency and is out for rest of week. Another service writer tells me to bring it back in on the following Monday, Service Manager will be back by then and drop the car off. Did that and they have had if for 8 days. First was a software upgrade and something else... didn't work. Call me today and now they say its an electric motor out of balance and half shaft (axle). Will be two weeks before parts will be in. Asked that bring rental car back and drive the "shake" mobile (my hybrid) for two weeks until they can get the parts. When parts get in, they will call and I need to take it back to them and drop it off to have them install those parts.

So car is sitting in the driveway.....

I gave you all the cliff notes version, did not mention th $5 a day for a rental car ($55 in those fees), the $100 I spent at Discount tire to see if they could correct it after my second trip. The hassle of having someone follow me to drop it off and pick it up. The two trips it took me to the second dealership to get a test drive to verify the shake.

Comical at this point. 5 months of this. Any thoughts from any of you? Think I have been more than patient and understanding to this point.

How to proceed???

just an update. 7th trip, last trip was really 3 repairs in one. Dealer had it almost 12 days. Took month and a half to order parts and get someone in who could fix it. Last repair they flew some "expert" in from the Tech Center or somewhere. Had to wait on him to return from Japan as he was over there doing Leaf training.

Time for the lemon law.
