Been asked for a recommendation, but don't know about the '09s or about hatches [would not recommend the Sedan as it only has a 1.6, I believe].

So owners . . . getting beyond your bias . . . would you recommend/purchase another?

A two day window so quick repsonse is important

It depends what they're looking for. The only regrets I have would be not taking a closer look at a Mazda 3, but I was looking for something cheap and sporty. If, however, your friend wants value and a good commuter car, then I would recommend the Versa. As far as I know there are no differences from '08. My dash rattles going over bumps.

I have an 09 hatch and love it. It is a good car for the price. You get alot of car for a low price. I will say i like the hatch look better then the sedan. Bu to be fair the hatch is not very reinforced. I got a huge dent in mine (basketball size). someone either leaned on it hard or kick it in. They told me afterwards it does not have the support of a normal door so it can dent pretty bad with a little bit of force. I don't know if that will change your mind but just giving you the info. The car runs great and gets better milage then i expected.

Although the 1.6s are in sedans, that is not all sedans. Sedans have a 1.8 and are in SL models except now they don't have the CVT which is retarded IMO.

I would purchase or recommend another, provided that:1. You can put up with small problems, eg. dash rattles, alignment, etc - and go through warranty fixes,2. Depreciation - getting a low mileage used one is quite cheap, provided you have the cash. In other words, don't buy new unless you plan to keep the car for long (which I plan to).

I like the car so much that I really would want another, but have to hold off for now (lack of $). I would consider getting a used one in a couple of years when they become really cheap. What really attracts me to the car is the quietness and roominess. And it's really smooth too - equipped with the CVT.

In Canada, new sedans only come with the 1.6 engine. The only model is the 1.6S with 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto, and a couple of option packages.

I'd much prefer the 1.8 in the hatch as it made quite a difference. In the span of two weeks, I drove a 1.6S auto, 1.8S auto hatch and 1.8SL CVT (my car). I found that the 1.6 required frequent kickdown to 2nd gear to make it keep up with traffic, while the 1.8 with 4-speed auto was actually quite good. It has a slightly spunkier feeling than the CVT, and was responsive without being over-active like the 1.6's constant kickdowns into 2nd gear.

In short, I would buy one again.

We've already bought two ('07 and '08) in our family and a friend bought one ('09) two weeks ago after seeing how much I like mine. (She wanted a hatch but got a sedan just because they made her such a good deal on it.) When my son's Beretta finally gives up for good, he'll get mine and I'll buy a new one with the convenience package. So yes, I will continue both recommending and purchasing them!

I have an '09 S hatch and would get another one. I only have 6,500 miles on it, but I've had zero problems with it. If I were to go shopping again, I'd look at a Sentra SpecV for the 200hp engine with more stuff to throw at it right now.

Is your friend in the US or Canada?

Caanda.

Update: bait and switch on her. Picture and write-up of an SL; base S for sale . . . not such a great price after all [she was looking used; I thought new; I'm steering her that way].

She is after a sedan [of course I'd recommend one ] but for new, hatch because as mosquito said, in Canada the S with 1.6 is the only sedan available for '09.

Seeing that the 1.8L engine only comes in the HB form I would say yea for the HB. The 1.8 is the better option so I'd recommend that. I have a sedan and love my sedan but if I were to purchase a Versa in an engine that's lower than the 1.8, I would actually consider buying a different car.

I have the 08 Hatch and my name says it all. I Love it.

I have not had one problem. I have no dash rattles, and no problems with it starting, Absolutely nothing wrong with her ...

Their is only one thing ... because I added a hood deflector I hear a whistling noise 'sometimes' on the highway ... But that is not really a complaint against the car, loll.

I would definitely recommend a Versa hatch to someone else.

I would also recommend the CVT! It is awesome ... glad I went with that!

Ok, once again, the sedan version also has the 1.8. It's the CVT that is no longer in the SL version. That might be the deal breaker for some people wanting an SL in either hatch or sedan. I have an older model sedan with the CVT. I got lucky.

And OK, once again, things are a little different in Canada, and we only get the Sedan with a 1.6 Nissan Canada Configurator

Be glad for you to prove me wrong, though.

My bad. I missed the Canada part. Used to most of the people here being in the US

You getting a new one? Do you have concerns with current daily driver?

No no no!!! Just hit 45,000 km, not a problem found 'cept a front wobble that disappears after 40 km/hr, and after the car warms up [no solution yet; hopefully next Monday when I'm in for a pre-trip check-up]

Nope, I've been approached by an older neighbour [ain't that a hoot -- some consider me a geezer and I'm helping someone older find a car!].

I thought she was looking new; she ws looking at a specific V . . . and the "too good to be true" was indeed too good to be true.

She may wind up buying new . . . whatever, I'm going to have a blast with test drives!

Yes, I would buy another hatch, I want a spoiler on it though I think it really ups the look that's just me. I know you can do an after market but I like it better when it comes with the car.

+ The sports edition should be faster maybe a turbo in it, that would show others who think the Versa is slow in a race

Except Versas don't come with bigger engines or turbos, so yes they are slow. Slow for a 1.8? Not so much but still a slow car in general. And if we all had the money for a turbocharged sports compact, I don't think we would have been looking at the Versa in the first place.

So after all that she bought . . . an Accent.

Interest rate and loaded price . . . and amazing service from the dealership her niece had bought from [an all-woman sales and ownership team catering to women didn't hurt either].

At least you tried. I feel like wasting time trying if they don't go forward with the persuasion.

She ended up buying an Accent... LOL ... That reminds me of the thread "The Absolute BEST Use of $20 You'll Ever Find." She should have read it.

Anyways, good luck to her and her purchase

As long as she's happy with her purchase, that's all that matters.Sucks though that we couldn't bring another one over to the Versa side hehe!
