I recently bought a 09 g37x sedan, and I love it. Convenience and comfort all in one, but I had a couple questions, hope some of y'all can help out with. First, anyone have a cold air intake installed that maybe of helped with MPG's? Or know of one that will?

Most will free up some airflow but the factory airbox is really not that restrictive. With full mods (shy of headers) I'm really getting no better mileage than before.

Gotcha! Yea I've been reading posts of people saying there really isn't much difference with the intakes.

It's mostly sound with some hp, but not much mpg, IMO. With dual TB's it can make quite a snarl with aftermarket intakes. One of these days I'll have to make a sound clip of the R2C's hitting >7k rpm.

There isn't a whole lot of difference, but I like i the R2C intake on mine. It gives a bit more power, and a little better MPG's...but then, we didn't buy the G for economy, right? It sounds a little angrier when you are going 60 and you punch it too! ;)

all noticable MPG gains are if you cruise on highway... and yes its a power gain too, mostly in mid to top end. BUT the sound is so nice you will probably lose milage pressing the gas harder that you normally do lol.

Note that the Q50 next generation will have the same 328HP from the same 3.7, but with higher rated mpg. I think the engine was basically released with its highest performance tune. The wiggle room is in fuel efficiency gain.

Yeah, the Q50 being the same hp was disappointing

Yes, the lack of improvement in performance is really a brand-killer for an old man like me. I'll be coming up on a replacement milepost in about a year. I'll either be driving the '11 until death, or buying something else for the same end point.

This summer my 17yo turns 18 so we will be getting her a car of her own (cheap), in her name (so we are protected from lawsuits), and her own insurance. She has been driving the sedan and I'm ready to trade it in at this point. So, it will be going away and replaced with something....I was thinking CTS-V but the wife does not like the looks. It's "her" car so her opinion matters. Probably end up getting a '11-12 G37x as a replacement. The Q50 really gives me nothing more (performance) where I would be interested in going new.

If Ford would build me an AWD Fusion with the 6 cylinder Ecoboost, I know exactly where I'd head next. I guess they won't do that because it would run circles around the SHO.

you can get the SHO tuned into the 400 HP range... i came across a guy at the track with a tuned SHO running mid to high 12s in the quarter mile. i was amazed that big a** car was running like that.

im hoping the Q60 actually has a engine upgrade, and there will be actual seperation between the coupe and sedan performance wise. the Q50s interior is very nice, but carrying over the same engine killed my excitement. ill just keep my 2010 or go in a completly different direction on my next car.

im thinking next tier car if everything goes my way... like corvette, gtr, or m5. But ill be perfectly happy keeping my 2010 and doing more upgrades. its all going to come down to if im going to want another car payment, as my current G will be paid off in a year or two. Saving that car payment might sway me from getting another car...
