I noticed that my stereo sounds fine with a cd or even through the aux connection, but sounds.... MONO when on FM stations. I read in the manual that it automatically downgrades to MONO to pick up weak stations. The problem is that mine never displays the "st" symbol for indicating stereo. RDS works fine, but not stereo. Am I missing some setting or something here? Other than that it sounds... ok for a new factory stereo. I love the steering wheel controls and bluetooth option. The mono thing is kind of bothering me though....

Thanks for the help {in advance}

I get stereo fine on my stations. I've actually never noticed mine going into mono even on weak signals. I'd take it back to the dealer when you get a chance, park it next to a new one and compare radios. Might be a defective head unit.

I noticed the same mono FM reception on my stock SL head unit too. Its not mono all the time, but it was noticeable to me. I don't think there is a "st" (stereo) icon on the display because I never saw it light up.

That's what I thought by looking at the display, but the manual shows this option. Most stereos do show the difference between a stereo station and just a plain FM station...

Well, I do like the functionality of the unit. I just didn't want to throw a lot of money on speakers etc, if I had another issue such as a stereo/mono issue.I have even looked at units such as the JL Audio Cleansweep. (quite expensive unless bought on ebay etc) I don't need any big boom, but a good clean sound would be nice.

Thanks for the replies.
