Hey guys,

Has anyone ever taken apart the overhead console (houses the interior lights, bluetooth mic, indicator light, and sunglasses holder)? I want to look into installing a GPS in where the sunglasses go but I'd like to do some research first, most of which involves dimensions of the consoles depth and wiring etc...

I want (if it works) to have the console look completely stock and when you need your GPS, open your sunglasses door and there you go. All the wiring should be integrated so no cords hanging around.

There are some complications, like right now if you were to leave your sunglasses door open, it obscures the rear view mirror somewhat so thats where the custom door geometry will come in. All of this will dictate what GPS unit will fit in there.

Is there a "Haynes" style manual or exploded view of the interior for the V's?

Thanks, Flatline

I've done some minor dissambely of this area to experiment with mood lighting in the past. I used a small flathead screwdriver to pop off the two lenses for the map lights.

Do this by slipping the head of the screwdriver between the lens and the plastic overhead console on the outer edges of the lenses and gently pry. Then there are two plastic tab-like "hinges" that hold the other end of the lens (closer to the middle of the car) that need to be popped out gently by hand. At this point, there are screws that you can remove with a phillips head and drop the entire console out of the roof.

Hope that helps!

Sweet, thanks. I took a look at that this afternoon but I didn't want to crack the lens.

When I take things apart, I'll take pics so that it will help others in the future.
