Hey Guys,

I have an 08 Sentra 2.0.It started with a Shudder, the RPMs would rise and the dash lights would flicker and it would stop. No big deal. Take it in to the dealership....cant replicate. OK, fine. Drives fine anyways.About 4 weeks later, it shuddered, then stalled while at idle. Its restarted with no problems. I thought it was a fluke as it drove normal after that.2 weeks after it did it again, then again, then again....always when coming to a stop or at idle. But random, not all the time.Took it in to the dealership....couldnt replicate. They cleaned and replacement my air filter, cleaned the fuel injectors and reset the idle. $300 later.Thinking they solved the problem, I took the car back, drove fine for a day and it started stalling again.Took it back to the dealer and they pretty much shrugged there shoulders at me and suggested that there my be water in the gas. I dumped a couple bottles of fuel line anti freeze in the tank. It stalled again that night and it took about 8 turnovers to get it moving.

The car shows no errors on the system, no check engine light comes on, nothing. And the dealership cant figure it out.

Whats a guy to do?

E

Did they check the actual IAC valve or passage way or the fuel pump or fuel filter?? Plus they ripped you off $300!!!

Try a new good brand of gas and if that doesn't help, try above.

I had a similar issue with my 94 Sentra about 2 months ago. 1. Battery was dying, got that replaced, fixed the stalling problem...Well, kinda had to, it just wouldn't start one day. 2. Your alternator may need to be replaced. Once I got a new alternator put it, it's been running fine. No flickering, or stalling randomly.

I have a similar problem, mine shudders when parked and when it's moving, obviously it looses power. Besides injectors, air/gas filters, what else could it be?

Sounds electrical. Electrical + intermittent is always difficult to deal with. Honestly I'd drop it off at the dealer and tell them that they need to drive it some more. 08 is far too new for that kind of crap.

Not trying to call you out but an alternator can be bad from the get go. Though it is rare. Definetily sounds electrical. IDK carry a multimeter around with you and when it does it hop out real quick and the volts....lol. I am betting on a bad diode on the alternator they cause inconsistent shutdowns and starts. Let me know when you figure it out.

Why did they charge you $300? If it is an 08 it should have a warranty on it still.

Hi, according to the dealer it seems to be a defective ignition coil, tomorrow they'll give it back to me so I'll let you know if that was all the problem

Update...The Service Manager experienced the stalling first hand and suggested it might be the transmission, 5 hours later they replaced the MAF censor. That was on the Dec. 2nd, 4 days later it stalled again. Dropped it off, they arranged a rental for a week. I called for an update, and they said "nothing was done, the stalling never happened while we drove it".Complaint sent to Nissan, mutliple calls to Woodchester and the car is still there with nothing resolved. I know have a file open with Nissan and they are getting the district managers involved.

It amazes me that they know its an intermitent problem yet refuse to find the cause. CAMVAP is my next step if nothing happens soon.

Yes definitely go to CAMVAP and complain - car is too new to be causing you so much grief. While you're at it try to get your $300 back too as obviously they didn't fix anything!!!

they shouldnt have charged you $300.00....the warranty on the car is still there, mine is an 07 and i just got a letter from Nissan saying that these cars are having a lot of problems and they extended the warranty to 120,000 miles for free because of that.

go back and raise hell

Well, finally the dealer gave me my car, and it was indeed a defective ignition coil, now the car is running very smoothly.
