/08 "rubbing" sounds on light braking

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just picked myself a 08 EX and am loving it... but i just noticed that after driving for a little i get a pulsing whining/rubbing sound when i suppress the brakes lightly (to me it sounds like its coming from the driver side front wheel). Its akin to a rubber slipping sound.

But some times i cant get the car to do it no matter how hard i try? I have done a lot of searching and found answers ranging from bad calipers to warped rotors... but i have run into both those problems with my old maxima and this sound is nothing like that.

the key is there is a very small sweet spot of pressure i use to get it to make the sound... to hard/soft and it goes away (cant be warped rotors?) i guess a bad caliper could result in a lot of different sounds, but that's an expensive assumption if i want to fix the problem.

Has anyone run into this?

thanks,

:)

I haven't run into it but I would take it to the dealer if it annoyed me enough.

I enjoy working on my car and there are a few things I have down, calipers/pads/rotors being one of them… but to do that I have to have my ducks lined up. Aka pre-purchase the replacement part.

I’m hoping I’m not the only one who is having this problem, anyone else run into this issue? Anyone have pointers?

Thanks
