31,300 miles and shifter will not move from parking. Car starts and everything is fine but for some reason I press the break and it does not release the shifter. Anyone have this problem >?

Its been raining alot in miami but i dont think water in the breaks can be the cause of this

can anyone help ? Also does anyone know if tow trucks are covered under the warrenty ?

I know , i know but have to ask.....

Are you pressing on the trigger on the shifter. The first time i drove it i didnt know it was there.

Check the parking brake other than that ...i have no clue since you are pressing the break pedal. I had it happen to me but the car was stick and all i had to do was put it on 1st and let it jump. It got it unstuck but dont know on automatic.

Search google dude.

Tow truck is covered by your car insurance if you have side road coverage.

The brake & shifter are interlocked electrically. It could be a defective switch on the brake pedal. A dealer or mechanic would have to diagnose this.

You can bypass it by inserting the key. Read pg 5-16 of your owners manual for instructions.

Just as Philipa mentioned. I had to bypass the problem by opening the lock shift little door next to the shifter, and reseting it by pressing the button and moving the shifter. I then drove to Nissan and left it.

Guess what ? I leave the keys with the service advisor and get my paper work . As he leaves with the car the shifter works.

He drives it back to me and says the mat could have caught a cable ( not sure what cable ) :wtf2:

I get in the car and as im gonna drive off It happens :bigthumb:

So good news is the dealer is servicing the Rogue and best thing it is covered under warrenty
