light went on at 23 K Mi's. Checked gas cap and reset computer. Light still on. Brought it in to dealer. They said OBD read a code P0043. They explained this code is NOT specific to the vehicle and they would have to check with Nissan and get back to me. Two weeks later light still on and dealer still has no answer. Can anyone help?

Code P0043 is an error code for Heated oxygen sensor #3. This applies to California emissions equipped Rogue's only. Federal and Canada emissions do not have this '3rd' Oxygen Sensor.

Here is the excerpt from the Service Manual:

Code: P0043

Description: Heated oxygen sensor 3 heater control circuit low

DTC detecting conditon:The current amperage in the heated oxygen sensor 3 heater circuit is out of the normal range. (An excessively low voltage signal is sent to ECMthrough the heated oxygen sensor 3 heater.)

Possible Cause:• Harness or connectors(The heated oxygen sensor 3 heatercircuit is open or shorted.)• Heated oxygen sensor 3 heater

The dealer said they don't know what the code indicates??!!! Funny how Philip looked it up in the owner's manual no problem, what kind of a dealership would let you drive around with that unknown error code for 2 weeks??!! That is just crazy.

The code is from the Factory Service Manual actually. Assuming adam13 posted the correct code of course.

The code I gave is exactly what the dealer (Rockland Nissan) gave me. They said it was not specific to the 2008 Rogue and that they would check with the nissan techline. They also suggested that I might have to leave the car with them for 2 day's in order to discover the problem.

Yes, NY sells cars with California Emissions...take it back to the dealer and TELL them exactly what it is and to service the car properly or you'll take you business elsewhere. It's emissions related and covered up to 65k miles by Federal Law.

Emission crap is expensive and they just don't want to deal with it under warranty. I had to fight a dealership to replace a catalytic converter that crapped out after factory warranty (32k miles)and basically had to have a lawyer friend threaten them with this issue. They replaced it and sent me a bill for over $1000 parts & labor. That's one check I never wrote.

I'm also facing EXACTLY this problem with the exception that I have only 400 miles on my Rogue. Unfortunately, I cannot go to the dealer cause I bought it from grey-market dealer. I'm located in Ukraine (former USSR) and we only have Euro-nissan dealerships.

How do you reset computer? maybe I should try this ...

There are 2 ways:

1) Use a 'Scan Tool' that will read the diagnostic codes and clear them.

2) Read the service manuals. I provided a link in my first post above. The EC section Page 100 gives the procedure on how to clear the diagnostic codes.

Good luck!
