08 qx56 steering wheel leather finish

Hey all, my patent finish on my steering wheel seems to be "coming off" .Leaves a rough leather look and slightest amt of dirt makes it look like s***...any idea's?

Interesting, I had the same thing happen on my Armada Platinum as well. I did my best to touch it up with a sharpie marker, it did make it better.

I am having the same issue on my '09 QX56 so I am interested in suggestions as well. A new one is like $650 and who knows how much it will be for installation.

I never did end up finding a good solution, I ended up just using the Sharpie marker. Do not use a leather repair kit, it is impossible to match the color exactly, and you notice it on the steering wheel.

Well, in response I found one Eb**. Installed my self..no trick to it. Just disconnect battery..loosen off nuts on both sides of steering column..10mil? slowly disconnect the connectors to the air bag...you really dont want to break theses. You may have heated wheel..disconnect clip..no brainer..loosen centre nut of wheel. Be carefull pulling steering wheel up as the clockspring wires will be weaved thru..maybe...you should also make a mark on the position of the st.wheel .cant remember if there is a factory mark/setting on the st. column. U dont want a crooked wheel going down the road. Then re instal new wheel. recoonect the heated steering ..clockspring wires..main harness and tighten down.
shouldnt take more than an hr or 2. save yourself $250 from the stealership....lol.
