I just bought a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD 4Cyl with 113k miles.... Ive had it since June 30th (not even 2 weeks) and I'm already experiencing problems with the vehicle. I needed a decent/reliable commuter vehicle around 25mpg because I work all over California everyday and travel approx. 160-200 miles (round trip) per work day. One site where I work there is a uphill pass for about 5 miles, the drive to the site is pretty smooth although I get a wobble once I started to exceed 70mph. The trip back home is the worse, once I get to the uphill pass while climbing it the transmission makes a loud whinning noise and smells like burnt gunpowder. Eventually I get over the pass praying the transmission doesn't blow up on me but the rest of the drive is horrible as well, anytime I try to accelerate after slowing down the RPM's wont shoot past 2900, and I can have the pedal to the floor and it will hardly even accelerate or wont even accelerate at all. Other times if I come to a complete stop, and take off it hardly moves, it won't accelerate with my pedal to the floor and it takes a good 5-8 seconds before I can even start getting speed. Its risky because cars can expect me to take off but I cant even move and if they aren't paying great attention they're going to rear end me and probably be my fault since I pulled out infront of the person expecting to accelerate quickly. But sometimes even not after driving all day and just going 10-20miles I can hear the transmission whinning as well. After letting it sit for a few hours it seems to be okay, after 2 hours of resting the A/C was still on when I started it and it just died right away then restarted and it shook a lot and almost died but stayed running not sure if that was just because my A/C was left on MAX A/C or not. The transmission is the worst of my worries, other problems are the vehicle shakes at approx.73+ mph and wondering if any other people have that same problem whether its just the vehicle or the tires. If someone can please give me some insight on what to do without just taking it to a dealer and saying "Fix it" or give me a clue on what the problem is if anybody else has had the same issues! thank you for your time!
