For those that want to install the sirius satellite unit and need a little push here are a few pics on the install in my altima. If you don't have the equipment you will need the Satellite reciever unit, fm antenna, fm relay, power adapter, and whatever necessary part to mount it to your vehicle. I haven't chosen a spot where I'm going to mount it but I might run the wires to the driver side with a suction on the lower portion of the window. Heres a few pics on how to remove the radio.

[IMG][/IMG]

First thing to remove is the upper portion- the air vents. With a small flat head screw driver pop the left and right clips on the top carefully and then on the lower left and right side wedge the screwdriver in and slowly pull screwdriver the opposite way to pull the piece out. See pics.

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

So you don't have to completely remove air vents and for it to hold in place on the dash just remove the emergency flashers plug and set on dash. See pic.

[IMG][/IMG]

Next remove the lower piece just above the lower compartment by gently pulling the lower piece down with the door slightly open and remove. see pic.

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Next remove the four (4) screws holding the unit in place. see pics.

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Once you remove the four screws just pull the unit out with one hand on top and one on bottom and pull straight out.

[IMG][/IMG]

The antenna plug is different than other makes of vehicles so you'll need a couple parts you can get at your local best buy for about 25 dollars. See pics.

[IMG][/IMG]

Next remove the antenna plug in the stereo and replace with new adapter(1). See pic.

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Then plug in fm relay(2). Then plug in other adapter(3), then the car antenna(4). See pic.

[IMG][/IMG]

According to the package for the adapters the blue wire is for automatic antenna which this car doesn't have so tape or wrap them so they dont create a short.

The last thing you need to do is run the fm relay wire to the location that you are going to mount the reciever, stuff the wires back behind the stereo and reverse the process of the stereo removal.

Hope this helps anyone.

Thanks for the images. I recently picked up an 08 altima, and I already miss the sirius i had in my last vehicle. Do you know of any mounts for the 08 altima? I was able to put in a mount in the last car I owned and I wouldn't want to do an install without it. I don't like the idea of suction cupping to my windshield or dash.

Also, do you know if this voids warranty?

I hate things on my windshield, so I mounted my XM unit to the cubby door with 3M double-stick tape. Wires run into the cubby. FWIW, my FM modulator was horrible (worked fine in my old Accord), I ended up replacing the stock non-Bose head unit with a Pioneer that had rear AUX inputs.

I really regret just not getting the connection package, so now I have to figure out how to get Sat. radio, GPS, and bluetooth in all one package. Are there any portible GPS units that offer Sat radio built in? I could kill all 3 with one stone. Having iPod connectibility would be a bonus also with connection to AUX. Post where you guys put the XM/GPS in your cars. Here in Cali, we're not allowed to stick anything to the window.

Pioneer Avic-Z1 or Avic-Z2 (basically same thing, Z2 has updated maps)Pioneer D3

With these, you need to spend another $200 for the iPod connectivity, Bluetooth and Sirius adapters.
