I have a 2008 maxima with 70,000 miles. It has the smart key entry. One day I went to drive and it wouldn't due anything so took key out and tried to turn the ignition and it wouldn't turn. Replaced battery and worked fine for couple days then same thing. Nissan replaced alternator master fuse and key chain batt. Fine for about a month then went to drive and same thing ignition locked?? Waited ten min then like nothings wrong? Can someone please help?

Sounds like it could be a NATS problem. NATS is the lock system that controls the ignition and other type stuff. Has the dealer checked that system?

Don't know paid them over $700 on alternator and stuff. Wife said green key light blinked on dash then when she tried to get in controler wouldn't work had to use key then tried to start it and wouldn't do anything so pulled out key and ignition wouldn't turn car was locked up waited ten min and worked fine. Could this be a safety mec and the battery dead in remote? Thanks for the reply

Definitely sounds like a NATS issue. I would take it back to the dealer that did the work and see what they have to say.

Is this going to be an expensive fix. Due u know what all they will have to do? Also will the problem show up when they do I diagnostics test? Thanks again for the reply!

To be honest, no idea what it would cost. It may be as simple as a bad transponder chip in the key but it may be something much more complex.

If the security light stays on solid after not starting,it's defenetlly the nats system.
Ive had several smart keys go bad,try using another smart key if you have one and see what happens, but see if the the security light stays on solid first.
