Does anyone know if this will work? I saw one for sale and wasn't sure if it would be plug and play with the 06-07 M's.

If you have the capital try it. Worst case it doesn't work and you just resell the components.

That's what I'm thinking. Just thought I see if anyone else had tried it.

I just completed the transaction, and should have it in my hands within the next week. I will report back after installing! Wish me luck! :luck:

Good luck. If you figure out where the hard drive actually lives, let me know. I might see if I can swap in a bigger one.

Isn't the drive 9 GB? I've never heard of a hard drive that small. It's likely more a flash based drive with the chips soldered onto a board. If it comes with the USB plug it can likely read external USB drives so pickup a 128GB external and throw MP3s on that.

Regarding the USB finisher you need to buy the front facia piece as well since the newer ones have the slot for the USB plug.

The finisher is included, but it's wood trim. I'm looking for the aluminum faceplate to match my interior. If I can't find one for sale, I know I can always get it from the stealership.

It has compact flash, not usb. I've tried using flash cards but man, is it slow to read the contents.

Thanks for correcting me. Have you tried one of these? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... Flash.html

Holy crap that is expensive. I've only tried an SD card in a compact flash adapter. SD cards are cheap.

I was just wondering if its the system thats slow accessing or if it was the card. Was it a class 10 sd card?

Yeah, I'm not sure... could be the sytem or the card. I think I put in a 32gb. Probably a class 10. Pretty sure the music box system tries to index the whole thing before it will let you do anything.

So this is a confirmed upgrade? It bolts in and works correctly?

Car is in shop having engine replaced so I haven't installed yet. I have everything except 08 touch screen which I bought from a seller on ebay today. Car should be ready next week. Hopefully I can test everything out next weekend. I will take pics and post my results as soon as I'm done. I'm anxious to see if it's works! Keep your fingers crossed! :ohno:

You might want to get a subscription for the 06 M45 and an 08 M45 and see if the schematics show the wiring pinout to be the same. It would suck if you plugged it all in, turned it on and POOF fried due to power being pin 3 instead of pin 5 (Example).

I would be surprised if they used the same connector with a different pinout, but it sure wouldn't hurt to check.
