Hey guys, I got question about safety. The other day I was in a hurry and pulled out of the garage and forgot to put on my seat belt. I noticed the seat belt light on, but I didn't hear a buzz, beep, or a ding. Is there not another signal for not having your seat belt on other than the light? I also wondered about the door locks and why they don't lock automatically when you reach a certain speed like 5-15 mph. I had these functions on base model cars in the past. Other wise I love my '08 M35S. Any suggestions or mods to fix these prob?

That's funny, I'm thankful that the car doesn't beep when the seat belt isn't on, though I always wear it..

I don't know of anything you can do to change that, but as far as the auto lock for the door is concerned, I know that KP Technologies sells a module that'll allow the doors to lock when a certain speed is achieved. Hope that helps a little..

unfortunately the 08-09 dont have the autolocks, I believe they have it in the 10, but not sure. The seat belt you only get a flashing light. To me personally i like the flashing light, the beeps are annoying, BTW it also does the flashing light for your passenger too

I'm thankful that there is no nanny, especially for the passenger seatbelt. Putting mine on is second nature to me, but I have one particular passenger who NEVER wears theirs. A chime would drive me crazy. I prefer the idiot light, which only I can see... this way I can mess with his mind. I can be looking straight ahead & command him to put his belt on! He scratches his head :)

Hi FireMedic,
I have a 2009 M45x and my door locks automatically lock above 15 MPH. You can turn this feature on or off - if you bought your car used it might be that the prior owner turned it off. I think both the 08 and 09 M's a lot of features in common. Maybe this quote from the 2009 Quick Reference Guide, page 3 also applies to your car.

Good luck,
Joe

"Vehicle Speed Sensing Automatic Door Lock
All doors will automatically lock when the vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH.
To Turn ON/OFF the Vehicle Speed Sensing Automatic Door Lock Feature:
1 Close all doors.
2 Push the ignition switch to ON mode.
3 Within 20 seconds, push and hold the power door lock switch to the LOCK position for
more than 5 seconds.
4 When this feature is activated, the hazard indicator lights will flash twice. When
deactivated, the hazard indicator lights will flash once."

Thanks for all the replys. Colo joe your info was noted and tried, but the '08 doesn't have the function of the door locking while moving :( I'll try aftermarket shop for the mod. I usually buckel up prior to even starting the car, and I do get the 6 sec bing at start up for the unfastened seatbelt. Since I pull people's heads out of windshields for a living I just would like as many safety features as possible. Thanks again for replys.
