New to the forum. Owned Toyota and Honda all my life. Looking at a 08 G37S Coupe. 50K miles. Over all good shape with factory warranty still left. What are the problems with these cars I should know. Coming from non Nissan products owner with NEVER any problems.

Thanks In Advance

its only a 4 year warranty and is 60k miles. You can still purchase the extended warranty.

Overall a good car. The car does consume a bit of oil quickly, so you want to check it frequently. Most of these cars will be a quart low on oil every 3750 mile oil change. However, you may see signs of the oil missing before this. Typically, many dealers state the car needs to have the oil checked every 1000 miles and you may add a quart. A few things to look over on the 2008s are the TSB's on what the car should have fixed. Search through the forums to find the TSB/ITB list on what warrenties the car should have been fixed for. Take this sheet, print it out, buy the car, then concern yourself with what repairs may or not be needed. You want to make sure if you dont get the extended warrenty, you will be missing out in 10k miles.

You just want to check the car for standard stuffs, like brakes, and what condition the car is in.

It will need a 60k mile maintenance shortly, which will be atleast $800, some conditioned components need to be changed which could be pricey.

Make sure you test drive the car a bit. You may hear some noise from the driver wheel hub/axle assembly. My 08 does it but only at certain speeds, and not all the time.

You do not want navigation. The clutch goes out in ~25k miles.

If you are buying from a private seller, that is an assload of miles. Mine was a leased car, I bought from a dealer, with 37k. In 2 years, that is a lot of miles.

Goodluck!

Actually I am from Canada and the 6 year 110,000km drive train warranty will still apply for 20,000KM more. Is an extended warranty worth it? It does have navigation. What is wrong with Nav? Why would the clutch go at 25K. Does it go every 25K? My Honda Prelude has the original clutch with 188,000 MILES on it or roughly 300,000 KMs. That sound quite disturbing. Is it a Nissan thing or are the clutches just bad.

Thanks

Is it worth it! I would say no but on a used vehicle purchase perhaps?
As an alternative skip the warranty and keep an extra $2000.00 in a repair bank account for unforseen problems

I did purchase the extended warranty as I drive 2k miles per month
The clutch slave cylinder had to be replaced at 92257 miles due to a sticking clutch pedal.
Still on the original clutch

Wow, Haven't heard of that.

Ya, nav is just an extra.

I don't think a lot of people have over 50k miles on an 08. There may be some unforseen problems as telco mentioned in the future.

Overall, I think you will still be satisfied with the car. It is great, and really turns heads. Especially the sport editions.

Your other purchase in this category is a 335i. Something to think about.

Check this out.
