So, took my G in to have a few things fixed with it:

1. Car following ruts in road - fixed2. Exhaust rattle - They replaced the muffler system3. While in manual mode and down shifting to 1st when turning a sharp corner the car hangs between 1st and 2nd for a few seconds before engaging.....

The Infiniti techs were easily able to replicate this problem and there is now a case open with Infiniti to work out a solution. It does not seem to happen in the G35x sedan loaner nor my wifes G35 sport sedan.

After driving the G35x loaner (loads of fun in the rain with the awd) and my wifes G35s, I really missed my G37 coupe.

That 3rd one is odd. I wonder how that feels. See the transmission shift logic takes data input from steering angle and throttle and speed dependent from your wheels, and so a sharp turn in a downshift would lead me to believe the computer is thinking a lot and trying to make sure you dont feel any abrupt shifts while in a variable speed change....

Could be anything but at least the techs noticed it too and could not resolve the issue while working with their Infiniti contacts. We will see if this is something that is eventually resolved.

On my 2008 G XS mine seems to hestitate if I enter into a round about at about 20 mph either in D or DS. I normally don't downshift in this situation and now typically just enter in 2 and lock it in. I did have something odd happen after getting my oil change at Nissan. When I went to do a lane change a truck who was travelling much faster moved over two lanes into my lane and I thought I was going to get hit. I punched it (in D) and it revved to about 5500-6000 and kept downshifting without any real acceleration. Almost got hit trying to get out of the jam anyway.

I don't have that particular problem. Mine only does it when I'm manually shifting.

I'd take yours in to have it looked at as well.

The issue with the downshift on your car I feel may well be related to mine even if not downshifting manually as it may well be governed by the same factors. I can replicate mine pretty much at will in a couple of places, particular roundabouts and on one particular right hand corner. Typical speed is about 20.

The issue with the downshift I encountered on the freeway was around 45-50 mph and worried me considerably since this could be a safety issue more than just an annoyance (which I guess in the right situations the could be as well).

I thought for some reason you had an issue overcoming full TCC lockup.

If you read the AT section of the SM in the first section it breaks down the input/output and shift logic for sport and tries to explain why it does what it does.

I would really like to see something done about this and I have a feeling within a few months they will get enough reports, although they do not have any way for some senior ranking techs to report commonly seen concerns like this. I have been working with the EX guys for a while on a similar concern and it is very frustrating to find so many walls in the way. Someday they will realize these forums are useful.

Yeah. The way mine is functioning the local Infiniti techs thought it warranted a case open with corp so it must be somewhat different and "not as designed". At this point I'm not too sure how much effort they will put in updates for the 1-year run of 5AT's since the 7AT is now the norm.

Hell, if you want to look my car up in the database, gimme a shout and I'll give you the info.

Unfortunately I agree with your assessment of the situation. However if enough people complain about it they will have to do something about it. The company has nothing setup for techs who see this type of thing can submit viable information for potential further action currently but hopefully they soon will develop something like that.

It is frustrating to have to tell people there is nothing at all I can do.
