My daughter has a 350Z and I want to get her into either an 08 FX or 09.Is the 09 that much better than the 08 in terms safety and technology. She drives about 18k per year, goes to Med school. Was thinkin of leasin her an 08 for 39 mos, and when she graduates she can buy whatever she wants. Lse pymnts would be about $140 (owns her Z)...vs spending hi $40s for an 09, is it worth it? Would love her to desire the EX, but she hates it!appreciate any thoughts

Welcome to Nico.

I believe that the 09 will come with a 7 speed AT. If Infiniti did the transmission as we hope they have done, then the mpg may be 15 % better in the 09.

You can do the math, but it looks like the 09 might save as much as $2k in fuel costs over the term of the lease, as well as have a higher resale value at lease end.

I don't know where you can find a $140.00 lease on a FX. When I bought my Infiniti, I asked about leasing and they had limits as to how much you could put down. $140 sounds too good to be true.

The '09 will have the 7speed auto in both the FX35 and the FX50. That will improve the fuel economy and performance. On top of that the HP on the FX35 will be up to 303 on the FX35. The only thing is I am sure you can get a sweet deal on an '08 FX, but that is the decision you will have to make.

IMHO i'm not a fan of buying first year new vehicles, i just went from my g35 to an 08 fx45 with every option avail and i saved atleast 10k as they are making room for the new fx, to me the current fx is a solid vehicle with proven reliability but only has a 5 spd tranny. Now i hear the new fx will be more fuel efficient but you won't get any discounts being its a new car plus and unproven reliability but i'm not saying infiniti puts out crap products but you never know, but still it comes down to what you want but right now alot of dealerships are given some nice discounts with the current fx so m aybe saving on the price will offset the gas price

Yes, there are some AMAZING deals on the '08 FX45! I saw an article on yahoo yesterday showing the incentives that manufacturers are giving on SUVs and trucks due to slow sales from rising gas prices. I believe there is $5000 dealer cash and $1000 owner loyalty incentives currently available on the FX45.
