What most people don't realize is that they will never notice this 0.1 second difference, nor any difference within that range. You can all just take your coupes to a track and have a CVT vs manual showdown. Otherwise, this is all just talk. Leave the real racing to the race car drivers.
I agree, it really depends on what you prefer to drive. I prefer manuals, so that's what I'm getting. If you don't know how to drive a manual, either get the CVT or get somebody to teach you to drive a manual, and see if you like it.

6MT for the WIN

Nice find there, I stand corrected at least the 6 M/T has a .1 second advantage at 0-60 Only thing that concerns me is the the CVT seems to take a "poop" once it reaches high speeds like 90 or higher, I was watching a CVT video on youtube and after 100mph it (still running at redline) the CVT took a year and a half to get to 120mph and I thought it was sad, by that time I think my 2.5 woulda caught up with it.

The top end seems to have a pretty big gap compared to m/t. I still think that the 5.8 times are off on the cvt. It seems most rate the 0-60 times at 6.4. How much can the times actually vary. All they do here is hold down the pedal. I have no idea how they came up with 5.8.

Hope to see some more test on this in the future. It is certinly interesting that we have a test claiming 5.8 for the cvt.

its probably because most testers arent fully aware of the kick-down switch on the accelerator petal thats only on CVT equipped altimas. Basically once you floor it, you need to apply a bit more pressure and then you'll hear a click, which is the switch. Once you hit the switch it basically tells the CVT to go balls out in acceleration and not to give a damn about fuel economy. With that being said unless you hit that switch fast enough, your times are going to suck.

Even still there's a humongous difference after about 90mph where the CVT seemes to be at its limits we're talking almost a full second difference of 0-100 on the 6/MT and the CVT. I don't really see myself going to 100mph all the time but it sure would be nice if a Civic Si or something similar didnt start catching me once we got to 100.

Its always good to see more performance on the top end. Anyone else have any experiance with this kick down switch?
