Hey all,

New to this forum and trying to decide on what to get. My dilemma is really between an 08 Altima and 08 Accord. If insurance doesn't go up too much, then the 06 M35 will be in consideration. These are all going for around the same price...$18K with around 40K miles.

This is a Nissan forum, so I do expect some Accord bashing.

Thanks all...

Dude... M35 FTW. Neither the nissan nor the honda compare in looks, and the interior quality in the Ms is top notch. For the money, mileage, etc, go with the Infiniti. 08 Altima I am assuming sedan. If it's a coupe, a bit difference in choice there, but I would still lean toward the M. Also, if you're over 25, your insurance will probably cost the most for the Accord, but none of the three will be too bad unless you have a rough driving record.

Good luck getting votes for the Honda on a Nissan forum... hahaha

I was also considering other things like gas and anticipated future repair costs. I'm sure these will be higher for the M.

The M shares the same V6 as the 08 Altima in a V6 (the M is RWD unless it's an X, which changes maintenance stuff completely bc it's AWD - only difference), so repairs/costs from a powertrain standpoint will be very close. If you get an M35S, then it has larger wheels, so tires will be a bit more expensive. About it really.

If you're considering 4-cylinder versions of the Altima/Accord, then disregard the Infiniti M completely, even though it will be respectable from a mileage standpoint if you can keep your foot out of it.

I am bias on this since I don't like the looks of an M and it weighs as much as a tank.

Yes, the M on paper might seem like a great idea (from a performance stand point if price is not too much of an issue) but it being RWD (already losing extra power to the drive train there) and weighing in at a hefty 3600-3700 lbs I'd either go full on for an M45 (yet again weighs 3800-3900 lbs but the slight increase in horsepower kinda makes me look past that). Of course I can't afford either M35 or 45 so take that as you will. ;)

I'd get the Altima (V6) sedan or coupe based on your needs. Accord - hmm I can't say one way or the other. I know Nissan has *that issue* with CVT's looming over your head, not sure about Hondas.

I guess I'm qualified to answer this post... I just traded in my M35 for an '08 Altima 2.5SL.

It's such a downgrade, but worth it whenever I go to the pump. I just got my first job where I have to commute to the office every m-f. The M was great when I was traveling and my car sat at the airport from monday morning to thursday evening every week. The M35 is not very fast due to its weight and if you get the sport model, be ready to dish out at least $800 for a decent set of tires. The M got around 15mpg in the city and was lucky to get 21 on the highway. For that kind of mileage, I wished that I had purchased the M45 instead. Don't get me wrong, the interior was the best I've ever had in any car and I've been through 7 in the past 10 years. My M35-sport had every available option, but that didn't make up for filling up twice a week after starting my new job. I'm a Nissan/Infiniti fan for sure. With my fiance and I combined, we have had 2 Altimas, Maxima, G35 coupe, M35, and QX56.
Other cars that I've owned... first gen tiburon when i was in college, show car Eclipse, and I turbo'd an IS300

My honest opinion, a loaded ('07+) 3.5SE Altima is probably a good compromise in between luxury and fuel economy. Plus it looks better than a camry or accord. IF you must have a RWD car, the '07+ g35 or g37 are great choices.

Good luck!
