Hey guys I was just wondering, I got my 3.5 altima coupe (w/ leather heated seats and bose speakers but no navi) about a year ago for 29,000 (MSRP). We actually know the owner of the nissan dealership and hes really nice, my bose sub was rattling and the ppl at the stealership kept telling me they heard nothing and therefore could not give me new speakers (esp cuz its bose) and one word to him and he ordered them in for me.

I still have about 20,600 left in payments on the car....I'm not too knowledgeable in the trade in process and what not So i wanted to ask you guys...

I know the base price of a 370z is 29,000 meaning I could probably get it for less if I get it at the dude's dealership, any guesses on how much more I'd have to pay? and do you think it's worth it? how much am i looking at losing?

thanks everyone.

looking at NADA for your zip, the trade in value for your car is $20,925. Since you owe a little bit less than what the car is worth it'll probably be a wash and you'd owe whatever is financed for the cost of the 370...plus tax and tags of course

if you still have 20k to pay off on the car, i'm assuming money is an issue in this decision.

which means you should not trade your brand new car. pay it off, use it for 5 or 6 years, then ditch it for something else. otherwise your just flushing ~$10k down the drain ...

that is IF you can get it for 29K... from what I hear, most dealerships are doing slight markups... but since you have the hookup, I'd say do it... seriously, if you have the money, do it... we only live once!!!!

If you want the 370z instead of your AC, I say you should at least go talk to the guy and see what it would end up costing you. This way you won't be always looking at your car like you settled for it or something. Settling for a car leads you to liking it less.

exactly it doesn't hurt to check it out and then decide. I mean if you got the money do it but think about it kind of bad times for right now but then again you get better deals that way

do it if you can

Ask your dealer how he would handle the trade/financing first.

IMO, it's not worth it. You end up losing a lot of money in deals like this....

Would be financially better if you make a low ball offer on 370. Sell Altima privately prior to signing 370 offer. While being sold privately, lien has to be removed. Pay off Altima. Get new lien on the 370.

With the above scenario, you are creating even more debt long term. Spend the money wiser. It is recommended to stay in Altima.

This is coming from a guy who has owned more cars than years he's been driving, so take it with a grain of salt.. I actually went from a 350z to the AC (because I couldn't drive the Z in the winters here), and now I really, really would like to go back to a 370z. But.. I have other things I need to be spending my money on right now, so I've put off the urge for now. (This will be the first year in many that I won't be trading my car in for something new, but I love the AC and am happy spending money modding it.)

That being said, I think it all depends on your situation. I'm not an advocate of being in debt by any means, but I've come to accept the fact that if you want to trade a car in within a year or two of buying it, then debt can be hard to avoid. But.. I also believe that if you can afford the payments and live comfortably in every other respect, then go for it. I love cars, and I'd be pretty grumpy if I couldn't drive a car I liked and was happy to own (bank really owns it, but you know..). Yes, it may not be the most financially sound choice, but hey, if you have the income and are good at budgeting, it's not a huge deal. I've made it work for quite a few years and still have plenty of money left over.

If I were in your shoes, could afford it, and live comfortably with the newly incurred debt, then why not? You'll have a car you love, and still be fine financially. Then again.. maybe I'm just stupid and a sucker for nice cars

the cars with the Bose sound system have a factory sub woofer??? where? can someone post pics? sorry to thread jack but i was thinking about sound systems in the future and would like to put a sub but nothing too crazy (been in my brother's Expedition with (4) 12" subs in a custom box and i dont want something super crazy). i'd be interested in getting a stock bose sub enclosure with an aftermarket powerful sub if possible.

No, there is not a sub. Nissan lies and says there is... but they seem to think the 6x9 speakers in the rear can be called subwoofers. The bass with the bose "subwoofers" is extremely lacking. I added a box custom made for the coupe's trunk on ebay, search for it and ask the dude if you can get 10-20 bucks off. He gave me 10 bucks off and its a nice box. Put 2 JL w3 10's in it. Beware of the rattles though!

thats stupid, 6x9 as a "subwoofer" lol i think thats a big fail on nissans part..... i actually thought about that box on ebay and i really like it BUT i'm pretty sure i can get the same exact type of box made by some local places for much less.... thing is though, i dont want something heavy to weigh down my car. i google searched carbon fiber boxes one time and some stuff came up but i never had time to really look through it.... i want to see if some local places could make a box like the ebay one but out of carbon fiber to make it really light weight... if not or if its crazy expensive, ill just go with something like the ebay set-up.

and for the rattles, i need to put sound deadening desperately, my car is annoying the crap out of me with my exhaust and my exhaust cut-out. so i figure ill just put enough to keep rattles away when i do get a sound system

this is so offtopic from the original poster's question... but to answer correctly, because the BOSE amp send certain frequencies to certain speakers, and because the rear setup includes two tweeters AND two 6x9 speakers only reciveing frequencies <200 Hz, then YES, the 6x9's ARE considered subwoofers.

and for the rewcord, they make subwoofers as small as 6"
