Hey guys, I really need to get some good advices.

I had an Altima for 4years now and this is happened ones last year. When I was driving about an hour on the freeway and all of sudden my engine was making some kind of high pitch sound and acceleration was dropping slowly. So I tried to let go off the throttle and pressed it again but the speed didn't increased at all. So I had to pulled over the car on the side of the road for about 15minutes and then it went back to normal.
This happened again on last Saturday.
I am just worried if this problem has anything to do with an after market intake or if there is problem with my A/C.????

I really need some advices guys. Thanks.

I doubt very seriously it is your intake unless something has come loose. Which intake do you have?

Was there a change in RPM to coincide with the noise you were hearing? Do you have a mnual or a CVT?

Looks like this person is having a exactly same problem as I do. I tried to make some holes in the intake filter tip. It was covered with thick rubber layer. Do you this this will help the problem?

Making holes in the intake would allow large particles to enter directly into your block. Why else would there be a filter?? I would recommend removing your intake now and replacing it.

Maybe it could be a transmission problem...have you been changing your fluids or checking them?

AlexN09 = buddy I know what the filters are for; I just made some small holes about 1mm.
SEismyG = I hope its not a transmission problem. I checked them and it seems to be fine... Thanks tho.

It is not an intake problem - if you were having problems with insufficient airflow, your ECU would catch it and you would have a check engine light that would have a code indicating such.

I fear your problems may grow if you don't replace that filter. Particles that can damage the engine don't have to be the size of a brick. Making holes in the filter has dramatically increased your chances of damage to the engine.

I would put your factory intake back on and bring to the dealer for diagnosis. You have a 120,000 mile warranty on your transmission as part of Nissan's CVT retroactive warranty policy.

Yes what xenon said, try to do it as soon as you can. That whining noise might be coming from the cvt, since it does get pretty noisy when it heats up or it's being pushed hard. Better safe than sorry.

Having the EXACT! same problem, i figured it was from running to long on the highway under this hot texas sun because when i run at night i dont have this problem. alot cooler air is flowing in, so i thought at first it was my intake (InjenSRI) but i talked to a couple buddies and they all pretty much pointed at the CVT. So im not really sure what the problem is but i also pll off to the side for about 15-30min to give her a break.
