08 Altima - Change out XM radio functionality with Sirius

I don't have the VIN yet. They have located the vehicle I want and need to get it moved to their lot.

What I was told by my Nissan service lady was that the 06 sirius radio is bigger so it would not fit into a 08 model. You need to look for the sirius tuner for the 07 model. That will fit the 08 model. That's what I ended up using was the 07 sirius tuner.

Does ebay not have one for the 07 model? The ebay link you provided shows he has a store....contact the seller and see if he has one for an 07 model. Can't hurt to ask right?

Has anyone else done it? I called Nissan and he told me it won't work, then he said the 07 Tuner was $375...I Love me my Sirius, xm has not been to my liking.

You don't believe me? lol. Well I will say that evey place I called said it wouldn't work in my car either. But the service lady I deal with through Nissan researched with me and figured this out. She even asked the guys who do those installs at the dealer and they said it wouldn't work. But she figured it out. I just wanted to share this info with everyone because I didn't want XM anymore. With all of today's technology there had to be a way, and there was. I now enjoy my Sirius radio through my car. It's like I bought it off the lot that way.

The price could be correct. I paid cost...not retail for it. Since the service rep lady and I had spent so much time researching this, she put in the order for the parts at her cost. That's why they were cheaper.

But it's up to you really. You can take a chance or not. I took the chance and it worked for me.

Oh i believe ya, i just wanted to see if other's had followed. I have every intention on getting my hands on the tuner sometime this week (maybe junkyard?), but if not the 375 would be well spent. Im also assuming that the xm navtraffic will no longer work?

I hope others do follow since it does work. I don't know about the navtraffic because my car didn't have the navigation in it. I would think that if it is part of xm that it wouldn't work anymore. But I could be wrong.

I took apart the foam and jack...no boxes. I'll take some pictures. Is it located somewhere else on the Tech Package?

It is not under the foam. Look up, underneath the truck top. If you are touching the bottom of the trunk (the foam area), take your hands and go up. At least for me that's where it is. You can get to the amp, the bluetooth box, xm box, back speakers, etc. Let me know if you see it now.

by where the speakers are mounted? i looked there as well and found nothing, just the speakers. I'll look again and take pics.

Yes, but in the trunk area. Mine were closer to the left speaker while the am was mounted closer to the right speaker (this is if you are looking in the trunk).

Take pictures if you are not sure.

well i took pictures and i will be posting tomorrow. I couldn't find it once again, although now reading through the manuals, im thinking i must remove the rear deck from the inside. I looked everywhere underneath the rear deck(trunk side) and nothing there. Nissan service printed out a very generic looking diagram, but also puts it back there.

Also, they supposedly dont have the 07 altima sirius tuner model in the computer. Anyone know where i can purchase it or have a part number? thanks.

i have the tech package...Aparantly the tuner is built into the Nav, i took pictures of the nav while it was open, although they aren't that great considering i didn't pull it completly open due to two ribbon cables i most definatly did not want to damage...I purchased the sirius tuner over at the nissan dealership, wound up I have a buddy that works there and gave me a great discount!i'll post pics soon...promise
