Geez, here it is almost halfway through '07 and I still can't even get an air filter?? Where are the cold air kits?? I'm anxious, I want to see how this new engine reacts to mods, plus, it's just too quiet, I'm itching to do something to it. I know, I can get an aftermarket exhaust, it just isn't in the budget at this time. I was hoping to get a CAI first. I sure hope that the '07's engine doesn't turn out to be a 1 year thing with the '08 G37 having the new VQ37VHR, which is a stroked version with valve lift control (which is AMAZING!) That's kinda good though, means we only need a crank, pistons, and rods to have a 3.7L. I don't think Nissan will change the engine for at least another year for the Z, the G's changes are coming about b/c of the GTR. Anyway, come on manufacturers, we want some parts!!! I'll be surprised to see more than a few HP from a CAI though, I can't imagine this engine's dual intakes are restrictive, but, who knows, maybe they are!

Stillen should be releasing their twin intake at the meet this weekend..lets hope they completed it in time....if they make our engine a one year run....COOL...that will make it more special...unless they make a VQ35vHR I would hold off on the exhaust even if you had the money..the 07 NIsmo got a redesigned exhaust to match the new engine they just didnt use the of the shelf NIsmo exhaust, which leads me to belive that the 07 engine needs..no demands a new exhaust system..putting an 06 or earlier exhaust might gain you some less than desirable results

back in the old days if you wanted performance parts you made them......

if you want a cold air intake, get some mandrel bends and some silicone couplers and a coupla cone air filters, although it would be I am sure cheaper to buy an off the shelf unit, and I thought someone was on here promoting one?

I wasn't aware that the '07 Nismo got a new exhaust. As for making a CAI, yeah, I could do that.....but, the MAF is built into the air box. The sensor is built right into the pipe that comes off the back of the airbox. This means I'd have to make a piece with 2 tapped holes and weld it to the new piping to re-install the sensor. I could do it, but, as you said, it would end up costing me alot more.

i dont own a z33, but when i removed my old intake for a pop charger on my Z32, i was amazed in the maze that the air went through till it made the throttle body. you said the car was too damn quiet, that could be the reason for that, along w/ the time to develop a CAI on the new motor.

im not sure if im right about the Z33, i was just givin u something similar to compare to.

Finally, to hear someone else feeling the same way about the lack of parts for the 07-Z....

Not even NISMO has the CAI for the 07?

Been really close to making a custom COI using standard parts and adding a K&N filer, however the sensor and the additional connection (?) has kept me from making an attempt...

Has anyone tried to make one (actually 2 in the 07-Z ;-)) ??

Would love to here some feedback on home made creations and success and/or failure...

How about those who have swapped out the OEM air filter for K&N, or does K&N even make any yet?

Anyway - bought the 07-Z at the base level so I could fit custom stereo, bluetooth, and navigation, without paying Nissan the rediculous cost for a sub-par Boooooose Stereo/Nav. The Bose wiring makes upgrades a re-wire hassle - so the base was the best option. Also did not want leather seats as they are too hot for California summers...

So far this is what I have done...

I have enjoyed adding custom interior upgrades, such as a MP3/Bluetooth phone audio system with two 10" Kickers in a custom box that fits like a glove under the hatch bar. Fit the Kicker 400W amp and Sirius Sat in the OEM subwoofer area and changed out the OEM speaker for Polk Audio's. Added some Polk 1.5" tweets to the doors as well.

Custom orange lights under each floorboard makes for really nice night driving and lights up the carbon fiber peddles. Tinted (15 percent hatch; 28 percent sides) really make a difference in looks and with the California heat. Smoked out the rear lights and really pulled the back end into one sweet looking machine. The lights from the breaks (both the hatch and the rears) really light up bright, even with the tint!

Custom mounted a Mio GPS in the dashes center compartment (where the OEM would go on higher models) and ran the wire behind the dash for wire free. Also custom wired my Moto KRZR charge wire behind the dash appearing through the storage area under the blutooth/mp3 Pioneer stereo. The Kicker amp has a remote gain dial that contirls the level of the two 10" woofers, and I mounted that in the same comartment under the stereo.

Will upload picks soon...

Thanks for the G-R-E-A-T place to talk 350Z, as this is my first and I am lovin it!!!

I couldn't wait for an intake, so I went and made my own out of two 92-95 Honda Civic intakes. They have the correct 45 degree elbow and just enough length. If someone can tell me how to post pics on this site I will, but untill them you can see pictures of the twin intakes by going to my

cardomain page at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2597965.

I think they look cool but you loose the ram air effect, plus I am having ideling problems. Cost me $150 for the pipes and filters. I believe I will toss them and buy Stillens intake system instead. I hate spending $400 for 2 filters from Stillen and not getting 2 polished intake tubes.
