Passenger side rear Brake light is out.....I bought a new bulb....but can't seem to get to the back of the light? I also have an older car and a simple removal of the felt in the trunk allows access to the bulb but not so with this Versa. So how do I get at it??? Please help!

There are many posts here to talk about removal of the light assembly cover in the trunk and a single screw. So follow that first.

The burn out light bulb (for brake, turning signal, backup, etc) can only be removed by first remove the whole light assembly from the car. The light assembly is difficult to remove since there is nothing for you to grip/hold on. If you try to pry it open you will break it.

Here is the trick that works for me:(1) Stand on the side of the car facing backward near the light assembly;(2) put both hands (must be clean and no grease) on the light assembly and give it a "sudden" push toward the end of the car;(3) the light assembly should come off;

Now, you should see that there is a clip/latch at the tail/sharp end of the light assembly. Be careful not to break this plastic clip.

To reassemble, just push it back and re-install the screw.

Good luck!monkey22801/05/2010

The taillamp housings are connected to the car with a nut on a stud. Please don't try to just push it off.

Biggie answered your thread in the General forum also.

I'm going to lock this one up.
