I'm about to bring my '07 Versa in for the 15,000 mile scheduled maintenance and was just curious about the cost. Is this standardized at all dealers? My local dealer charges $200 for the premium package.

I wish I had asked about the cost of the standard "Schedule 1" maintenance. Anyone know?

Doesn't look like there's much difference. Judging from the Nissan website, the Premium adds these things beyond the Schedule 1 package:Lubricate all locks/hingesReplace engine air filterReplace wiper blades

and inspection (only) of the -Air conditioning system Lights Engine drive belts

I'm wondering if I'd be better off just going with the Schedule 1 and replacing the air filter and wiper blades myself. Any opinions? Thoughts?

This is the quote I recived form my dealer in Virginia $373.46 for the premium 15k service which comes with an:Oil change,Tire rotation and balancing all 4 tires,Wheel alignment,Replacement of your air filter and cabin air filter,Replacing you windshield wipers,Brake InspectionExhaust system checkInspect A/T fluid/ CVT fluidInspect front suspension ball joints & dust coversInspect Brake line & cables/hosesInspect Cruise Control Vacuum hosesInspect drive shaft bootsInspect Drive BeltsCheck all lights for operationLube Locks,Latches, and HingesInspect steering GearboxInspect Steering Linkage Ball JointsInspect Axle and suspensionTop off All Fluid LevelsRental Car because it take 3.5 hours to complete the service.

Regular Service 1 Maintenance is $34.95 at my Dealer, but I get all Service 1 Maintenance Services for free.

For me personally as a former mechanic I will do the premium 15k service so that I can verify that every thing is tight and is in perfect working order.

It seems the dealer can put together any package they want. That's the main reason I've not had my dealer do any maintenance on mine until now. They wanted to add lots of other "services" not listed in the service manual, and didn't include some that were in the service manual. Instead, I've brought mine to my favorite mechanic and had him perform the steps specified in the manual and let me know if he thought anything else was required.

In your case, I'd say yes - do the filter and blades yourself and save money!

I have 86 000 kms and the only thing I did was change the air filter (k N) and change my oil every 5000 to 6000 kms.

i did change my in cabin filter myself.

I am not telling you to avoid your dealer but find out exactly what they do and what you really need.

Hope that helps!

In Toronto they charge 90+ on what they call schedule 1 maintinance, which includes: oil change, tire rotation, breakes and fluids inspection locks and hinges lubrication wipers check and replacement if needed. They always have it "as a special" for 70$ and change ,which with taxes give you 90$.You basicaly saving taxes. If ithe "premium "only adds an air filter change, i'd change it myself and save some cash.

Ottawa. 12,000km/7500mi

$109.95 [standard across the city]

LOF, Rotate tires, check check check.Adjust drive belts.

$34.95 at Speedy, Midas, etc.

And probably just as reliable, stories I hear from those who use the dealership service departments.

im coming to my 7k maintnance, but I changed oil at 5k and I get oil changes plus filters for free from my dealer had to pay 160$ to get this so called lifetime deal. I hate taking it for maintnance, took it once and it took them one whole day.

My thoughts on what needs to be done at 15k:

Oil change: it depends on when the last one was done. An oil change may not be needed at 15k.

Air filter (engine and cabin): do it yourself. This is a no-brainer. I believe the book does recommend a 15k interval for this. Most other modern cars I have owned have a recommended service interval of 30k for air filters.

wiper blades: I do this once a year, regardless of mileage, so this may or may not occur every 15k.

Tire rotation: do it yourself. Depending when the last time you did this, it may not be needed at 15k.

Inspecting and lubing stuff: Do it yourself. Come on, do you really believe the dealership actually checks all of this stuff? I have serious doubts.

Handing over a few hundred bucks every 15k seems ridiculous to me. If someone has a few basic tools and common sense, most basic maintenance can be done yourself with way more quality and care and attention to detail than some hurried up technician at a dealership would do. For a lot less money.

If someone knows absolutely nothing about cars, they should read the manual, and insist and only pay for the necessary maintenance items. To do otherwise is to be ripped off. IMHO.

My V currently has 14,200 miles, fast approaching the 15k mark. It just so happens I will need an oil change by then. I will also replace the air filters. If they aren't all that dirty, I will extend the air filter replacement longer next time. I rotated my tires at 13k so that won't be necessary. Nothing else will be needed. Total cost: Approx. $44

the price for mine at cookville TN is like $500 bucks... only thing i go there for is the free oil change i get till 36k... and they say they check everything for me... and lube it all up... but after 36k im doing it all my self... i`d rather spend 44 bucks then 500 on just basic stuff that any car owner should know how to do...
