07 V SL HB with basic CD Player thought it would be mp3 compatible

Just picked up a new to us V. I was dissapointed that an SL would come with just a basic CD player. Has anyone else encountered this? I am looking to put in a mp3 player and was wondering what the stock 6 pack CD / MP3 / ipod was like?Does anyone know how easy it is to install a factory sub or should a guy be looking at aftermarket ?

I wasn't planning on getting a V so I didn't even look to see if the stereo was mp3 compatible. I test drove it on a Saturday afternoon and put down a deposit 3 hours later. A week later I got the car, looked at the manual and thought it did play mp3 so I put in a mp3 CD but to my disappointment, it didn't play.

I'm planning on getting aftermarket stereo for my V but nothing too flashy, I don't want some kid breaking into my car. Check out crutchfieldcanada.com, they have a lot of stereos and most come with a free adapter and in-dash kit. There's a tutorial on stereo install in the tech pages, from what I hear, it's not hard installing your own deck.

Must be a difference in Canada, because the SL in the US comes standard with the 6-disc player and my daughter and I routinely listen to mp3 cd's in each of ours. I know some folks have had problems with mp3 cd's burned in certain ways, but I've made mine with default settings and they work great.

there is no problem with mp3. i had a mp3 cd (not dvd)
