Only issue I can see is your weight goes to the front a bit because of the tires are smaller so your front end will sit lower. Only way to find out to try. Try it at your workplace and if it works why not.

bad idea...those tires are only safe at low speeds!!! The last thing you want is a blowout at 100+, and going into the other lane...or worse.

On the one hand smaller lighter skinnier tires less friction on the front. On the other hand I'm hitting a speedometer 110 mph in the 1/4 and 100 mph when I blow through the beams. A front tire blow out would flip the car for sure at that speed.

The rims are 17x4 I wonder what size regular tire I could mount to one of those?

Jeff,BAD BAD BAD {{Smacks your nose with a news paper}} Spare tires are only rated at small speeds, I'd say if you were trying to reduce your race weight then you should work on your own "spare tire" first! Try taking the spare out of the trunk to reduce weight while you race, but be sure to put it back when you drive to work... I'd hate to see your picture on the front of the Arizona Republic after flipping your beauty...

I'm already doing weight reduction and track prep

removing all the floor mats and trunk mat.removing jack & tool trayremoving all the crap I keep in the carremoving the spare tire

42 psi in the front tires24-26 psi in the rear tires I'm thinking about removing the back seat and rear sway bar next time!

I wonder how hard the passenger side seat is to remove?

You are a RIOT! While you're at it, you should take out that pesky dash and bose stereo... Be sure to exhale all the air in your lungs at the starting gate... that should help cut down some weight the 1/4 mile launch as well, and for God's sake... Take a dump before you race! You can't have all those tirds slowing you down in the race!

Funny stuff!

and the hood I must remove the hood and grill, maybe the head lights too!

If I do further weight reduction I'll post a picture for your amusement!

SO when are you going to come out to speed world and race with me?

Any further plans on the Stillen Exhaust or is it still on hold?

If you're gonna take the time to get another spare rim to match what u got....u might as well just buy some real drag skinnies with some high speed radials and do it right. Then you'll really have less weight and friction goin for ya

just get yourself one of these 4lb rims and some tires and you'll be good to go http://www.harlowracing.com/cgi-bin/dbsrch?^^^^;;

they even got some 17's

go big or go home is what I always say.

The bottom back seat is easy to take out...don't know about the folding back part though.

I'm going to wait to see what santa brings me next week before I make any more mods... I have a 12 foot stocking hanging from the mantle that would perfectly fit the catback exhaust, but I may end up sleeping in it if I keep spending money on Christmas presents... Hoping the 'ole Christmas bonus from the boss will be decent, but I'm not counting on it this year... We'll see... cross your fingers for me!

I'm working on a set of Aluminum 17x9 rims with 275/40/17 Nitto 555r drag radials right now! Might be my Christmas present if everything works out!

I think the spare rim would be a good cheap front skinny if I could find two more cheap and get some M&H front runners!

My company did not have a profitable year this year and we still received the same 4 digit bonus we received last year along with news that we will close sometime in January

So when will we meet at the track? I'm thinking I'll go again the 1st or 2nd Saturday night in January.

We can swap tires at the track! You give me the 215/55/17 Goodyears off your back for my front and I'll give you my 235/45/17 Kumho SPT's for your back. Then we both will have traction and slightly less friction on the front end. You won't be wearing out your tires by racing on them and it should improve our weight transfer on launch! We can swap back after we get done racing!

Doh, sorry to hear about you company dude. They gonna set you up with another job with a buyout company? Or are you gonna be job searching soon? Either way...that sux. I just lost/voluntarily left my job kinda due to the same thing. Not enough money coming in, so gotta let a few people go. I volunteered cause I got something else lined up overseas, so all is good.

When you finally get your skinnies....we want pics!
