I am curious if anyone here has put any type of aftermarket head unit into their B16s. The nice thing about the base-, mid- or Rockford Fosgate-level system is you don't need an adapter like you do the Bose systems. The RF systems' have amp turn-on wires built into the body harness behind the dash. So, when you buy a wiring kit to install audio, the blue wire on the head unit hooks into it and no adapter needed. I am eventually going to replace my 6disc changer with the Avic-D3 thru Pioneer (you can't install a flip-down face because it will hit the trim around it, so you need one WITH the disc slot exposed) and get the iPod adapter. I want to see if any of you ahve pics yet of stereos installed in your dashes.

i put a pioneer premier 690ub deck in my 2.0s. i payed over $400 for it, and my screen stopped working, as well as my steering wheel controls. im some what satisfied with the new sound, but have the feeling the factory speakers are gonna go out soon. it was a big improvement but there is always room for more. i paid 270 for the deck and everything else was installation. they had to re-run some of my wires, CREATE a harness. i dont think i enjoyed this experience, but i have new sound with my subs... instead of the rca converter.. it's a plus! the new deck is awesome!

Wow, create a harness? Why not buy a Metra kit? I have the Fosgate system, and I plan on putting the Sony CDX-GT610Ui in my ride, and Crutchfield has said 1. I can use the factory RF amp (The harness in the radio for the amp turn-on connects to the amp turn-on in the Metra harness) and 2. they include the dash kit I need. I really don't feel like fabbing anything, but the stock changer blows horribly. When I shut it off, at times it can't find the next track so skips to a new cd, when it's on shuffle, it repeats songs often when it starts running out of new material, I hate not having iPod control like I did in my Lancer (Kenwood KDC-X589) and I don't need the trip computer. It is useless and false, anyway.

i was assured they had a harness, and at the end of installation, they sprung this charge on me.. i just wanted my car... so i paid the damn price.. but if i had been patient, i could have just ordered it online.. it's my own stupidity and impatience.. but hey, it's just money... can't say im disappointed with it overall.... just wont be doing business with those crooks again...

Honestly, as long as you plan on keeping the car it's good.

The one nice thing about dealing with Crutchfield for stuff like this for my car is that they make the wiring kit so that the stock RF amp will power the speakers and not the head unit.

why not just buy a bluetooth retention kit.

what does that doo? is that just a bluetooth reciver that hooks into one of the auxillary inputs on the back of my deck?

only reason im saying id rather get a kit from nissan is because the mic is still inplace above the console, and the speaker for the bluetooth is located under the glove box....but i think the reciver for the bluetooth was in the stock deck beacuse my phone wont connect to anything no that its out...

if you can link me to one of these retention kits

thanks

here you go:http://www.scosche.com/ click on bluetooth, also there is a press release for the just released 2007 sentra installation kit somewhere in there.

or if not try this kit. it retains factory bluetooth setup as well as driver information screen. also, there is kits available for steering wheel control retention as well. but i think the autotoys kit does all of it in one package.

How long has this been around?!?! I have asked people from everywhere and they all said I had to lose my screen. Now I can get an aftermarket and not have a blank screen. Thanks for posting this!

it has been out for about 3 months now. i got the link from myspecv.com. noone know about this kit since autotoys is the only company that sells it. i am going to order it and let you guys know how it is. my only concern though is if i can get a double din stereo and mount the keyboard elsewhere. if it has wire long enough there is other places where it can be mounted on the dash console.

I don't get what the up / down buttons are for. The only thing I use that screen for (aside from radio/cd) is with Trip/Info to see mileage and everything. Does display change anything if you aren't playing music on it?

So, this harness keeps _all_ steering wheel controls working? Bluetooth start/stop call, and also volume up/down and track up/down?

i ordered a pac swi jack to keep the steering wheel controls...i think this only keeps the bluetooth, don't know about the up/down arrows....hell, the more i think about it, not real sure what this can and can't do but i bought it! H-town, any answers here?

since i dont have bluetooth i dont know how it would work.. specV's didnt come with the bluetooth. the kit just keeps the screen on which is all i wanted... you are able to scroll through the screens such as mpg, trip, avg speed etc. the kit only retains the bluetooth. they sell tons of kits to maintain the steering audio controls at any audio shop.

my install was done at a custom stereo shop in the suburbs here in houston. took the guy a while though... on second thought i should of watched him install so that i can do a write up for you guys... i only got a single din application cuz i got a good deal on a stereo. i used the autotoys dashkit that is recommended for it and it fits great. overall im happy with the install... way better than just having a blank screen.

also, if you guys want to do a double din... it can be done you just need to pick a place to mount the keypad.

Thanks for the info man....I just have one last question and I'll leave you alone about this. I am going to put this in myself and have been looking over the instructions. It says that the harness needs to be spliced into all the speaker wires. I don't understand this b/c the bluetooth only uses one front speaker. My rear speakers are directly connected to an amp, which is in the trunk, and it would be a pain to have to connect the harness to those speakers. Do you know if it has to be connected to the rear speakers, and if you don't, could you please do me a HUGE favor and ask your installer?? I would really appreciate it.

since i didnt do the install unfortunately i cant answer... but i can ask the installer... but from waht you are saying... if you are running your rear speakers from an amp and the bluetooth uses a front speaker why would it even matter??? perhaps i didnt understand your question... ill let you know.
