07 Sentra TPMS light staying on - damaged TPMS?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Looking at buying a 2007 Sentra S. Dealer let me keep the car for the weekend. I took it to a local mechanic I trust, and he checked it out and said it's good to go. My only issue is that the TPMS light is on, and won't go off. I checked the PSI on all 4 tires myself, and each was right at 37 PSI. The dealer told me brand new tires were just put on, and they do look brand new. My question is: is it possible that the TPMS was damaged somehow when the dealer put the new tires on? It's a Ford dealer that is selling the car, so maybe they aren't familar with Nissans? Any help would be great, thanks.

If you are going to buy it from a dealer then tell them to reset it if they want you to consider buying it. I have an 07 sentra and my light came on also. I added air and took it out for a drive and the light eventually went out and stayed off.P.S. read my thread 2007 Sentra rear end alignment.and no I don't think they damaged the tpms sensors.

My light comes on after a few hours of driving, flashes for 20 seconds or so then goes off. I've had new tires put on two different times and watched them do it so I know they were done right, new tpms senders and all each time. The tpms on these cars (and most others) just sucks.

I've pestered the dealer a half dozen times and nothing's come of it, I keep my tires at 35psi and the light usually doesn't come on.

Take it back to the dealer and make them figure it out. It could be that they damaged the system or that it's just not shutting off. Seems like I've heard of the TPMS taking awhile to turn off at times.

TPMS is a finicky system in any car. Have you recently had your tires replaced? If so, set your tire pressures and then reset the system.

It depends on the car. My Sentra didn't have it, but my Mini has a button on the center console that calibrates the system when pressed. I suspect the Sentra has a relatively simple method as well. Check your owner's manual, it will almost certainly have details.
