07 sedan sometimes stuck in auto mode

Three times when I noticed after shifting in manual mode the transmission stays in auto mode. The only way to fix this is to shut off the car and restart it. This must reset the the computer that controls the transmission.

Weird. I would take it to the dealer. You probably right has to do something with the TCU. Most likely a re flash of TCU would fix it. But I am far from expert.

Please let us know how it goes.

could even be a bad TCU

i would def go to the dealer and get that checked out.
