I used an Air Pump with a cigarette lighter plug plugged into the front power outlets, on my 07 N-51. During it's use, the front power outlet stopped supplying power. I plugged it into the panel of the arm rest. That stopped working too and now I have no working power outlets in the front. :wtf2:

I've checked the fuses on the glove box panel- rt side of glove box, and also, the fuse under the hood, right side, near hood hinge. Both of those fuses are intact. I've tested it with several USB adapters, and GPS unit, still no power.

A friend suggested that I may have 'burned out the wiring'? Is this possible? Has anyone ever replaced the wiring underneath the dash board or under the shift console in either of these cases? Is this something that has to be tackled by a certified mechanic?

Thanks!

Welcome to NICO.

Wow, that's a lot of questions. Let's back up a bit. When you say "I've checked the fuses" was that just looking at them or did you test them to verify they're good? Fuses are funny little buggers that can look perfectly fine when in fact they're toast.

It's entirely possible there may be a fuse that you've missed. I'm not all too well versed in your vehicle, but can offer an option for you. Here at NICO, we have Factory Service Manuals available free to members. Take a look at the link in my signature and find the FSM for your vehicle and check to see if you've found all of the related fuses.

Could the wiring burn out, well yes but I'm not willing to bet that's your issue. Hopefully it's just a fuse, but maybe someone more familiar with your vehicle can chime in to get this resolved.

Morning Rogue One, I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your response.
Yeah, the route is a big conundrum.

To the first, yes, I have opened up each fuse panel, removed the fuse, looked at it directly and indirectly with retro illumination from behind and tangentially, and saw no issue with the fuse, or the fuse contacts. I've even purchased a complete fuse pack, 5 amp to 30 amp selection, took out the wood be, perfect fuses, and replaced it with an appropriate 10 or 20 amp fuses from the package, and still, no joy.

I will take a look at the FSM you've enclosed the link to and try and research it with this new bit of information as I have the day to do some light wrenching.

Thanks for the response, and I'll keep an eye out for more inputs on this first day of 2019!

Jim
