I'm in the market for a new car and have really been impressed with all the features of the Maxima. How is the navigation system Nissan offers? Any complaints or really stand out features? I'm big on iPod interface, and kind of want something better than the offered 1/8" MP3 jack. I'm a huge fan of Alpine and was thinking about skipping the stock NAV and popping in my own Alpine screen. Has anyone here done this? Pros/cons of replacing the stock radio? I figured if Nissan wants 2k for their NAV system I could probably get a top of the line aftermarket system for that. Thoughts?

Member jsmithsole has a great setup using a Pioneer video/nav unit in place of the stock nav system. You can see some pictures of his setup in this thread.

Thanks for the link, 6thgenmaxima has a lot of info over there as well. I'd like to find an option of sticking in an aftermarket LCD screen w/out having to purchase the factory NAV option, but I'm thinking there might be a great deal of customization to do that?

Haven't seen anyone who has tackled the '07 as of yet. It does look like you can cleanly fit a double din in the spot where the stock HU is. Just need to wait for metra to make a kit...And for the record I run Pioneer NAV and love it, but I will say it's really the only NAV I have ever used so my opinion is pretty narrow!!
