I think this is a 'feature' and not a 'bug', since a co-worker's 07 Altima does the same thing.....

When you press the accelerator to the floor, there's a 'clunk' feeling and increased resistance on the last 1/2" or so of travel.

I assume this is normal, because I've seen it on two different cars.

I didn't notice this until I got past the break-in period, as wide-open-throttle was not part of my break-in period driving.

Any idea what the binding is all about? Gas saver?

I have it also, its like ince you get half way you have to give it a little extra push to go further.

The older Maximas have a rubber "door stopper" behind the throttle pedal. I'm not sure why, but I know that WOT goes beyond the door stopper point.

Take a look down there.

I looked real closely at the sensor assembly, and there isn't anything special to it. The factory service manual basically says to replace it if it's broken and don't take it apart.

Maybe the the extra resistance goes away after a few more miles. I was going to take it into the dealer, but this is a feature, not a bug....

I was surprised how high the Maxima revs with the CVT when you nail it at freeway speeds. It seems to work better to hit like 80% throttle versus WOT when passing those beemers at 80mph. Watching the tach hit over 6,000 seems a little abusive until the CVT 'winds it in'. It seems like the CVT likes 80% throttle versus 100% throttle in most cases.
