Hey all!

So I need honest advice since i have been pondering this the past 2 weeks and need honest non biased advice.

I currently own a 07 M35x with 70k miles on it that overall is good. Warranty runs out in July.

I will need rear brakes soon(~400-500 bucks), I have a rust spot the size of a dime that isnt through the paint yet but will need to fix it this summer (~400-500 bucks) and the dreaded Y pipe rattle that Infiniti will not take responsibility for (~300- 1000 dollars depending if I go just ypipe or i go complete aftermarket exhaust)

I Currently Pay 320 a month for this and owe 15800 left on the car. I currently get around 15-16 mpg mixed mileage (lead foot and possibly something wrong with my car since i used to get 17-18). I also just put brand new michelins primacys on the car which i owe 500 left on so total 16300

OR

Should i lease a 2013 g37xS that is fairly loaded with 12000 miles a year. I think the only option i didnt do was the cargo organizer.

The lease would be 359 down and 359 a month and they will pay off my car with tires.

Really a tough decision and i have NEVER leased which makes me nervous but have always had a payment and tend to trade cars every 2 years anyways. I was hoping the stealership would refuse my nickel and diming on the up front payment, but they are really hungry to get these g37x's off the lot to make room for the q50. So thats where I am at.

I have owned my m35x for a year and a half and put on about 11000 in that time so I dont think mileage would be an issue.

My main goal is pretty easy- Give me the biggest gain for my buck. I do not carry passengers a lot. I like the bigger M for just that reason but man is the g37 sportier and gets awesome gas mileage comapred to my M. The week i had the G while my car was getting fixed i averaged 22mpg same driving conditions.

Thanks for the advice guys. I figured who better to turn to!

4-500 for rear brakes? lol
I did the entire car, pads and rotors for under $150

15-16 mpg? You're doing something wrong. I get 20 in my 08 m45x.

Sorry to be negative, but you goda get real sometimes.

20mpg for M45 = a lie unless your drive consists mainly of down hill. VK45 will not get that kind of mileage unless you start your mileage count going down hill. I get 20mpg if I go cruise control on the highway at 70mph with my M35. If i drive aggressively on local streets, I get 13 - 15mpg. It all depends on how you drive. I can get close to 30mpg if I start my counter at the top of this hill on a highway. lolol I honestly don't believe people purchase the M35/M45 to maximize fuel mileage. hahahah

400 to 500 is way too expensive. Pull up a DIY and try it out. Rotor plus pads should only cost you around 120ish for the rear depending on what brands you purchase.

I say just keep the 07.

Ya I mean the brakes I'm sure are cheap to do DIY but I couldn't have timed it at a worst time. We're currently in the teens for high temps up here in Minnesota and I do not have a heated garage and buddy who does have one got shipped overseas. So maybe I'm off on my numbers, the dealership wanted 500 just for the rears which obviously is overpriced.

As far the MPG lol I'm not here to lie, I'm here for honest answers to a serious dilemma. Currently I am at 14.1 gallons premium fuel with 50/50 mix driving and my somewhat lead foot. To be honest I have NEVER got above 22 mpg in this car even on long road trips, so if your numbers are accurate then yes something is really wrong with my M.

MPG is isn't that huge since I knew what I was getting into with the M, but who is gonna deny the power/mpg you can get out if the vq37/7 sp transmission?

The MPG sounds accurate. It all depends upon where you drive. I live in a city and many weeks I'm at around 14-17. If I reset for a highway trip I get 21-22 @ 75mph and up to 24 for 60-65 mph.

I would go with the G if it's cheaper and you don't carry passengers... My only problem with the G is the interior, but again, if you're not carrying a lot of passengers, go for it!

I drive around 40k miles a day, all over the state. highway, country, and city. Every fill up I reset the counter, its always at 20. Sometimes a 22ish if I drove all highway.
I dont try to hypermile an M, I just drive it.

There may be a good chance that you may have a fusion reactor attached to your engine.

If not, your M maybe a M35 disguised as a M45!

At least someone is getting good mileage on their Ms

Those G37's are not good on gas either, I don't drive my M much in the winter but when I do I'm getting around 14.5 city, highway i can get up to 22 but my car is well maintained and with 22" rims

I faced the same decision recently...different set of numbers but I went new and do not regret it. I know many people who've stepped out of Y50s into Gs and taken well to them. I've also got a few M owners who are over 6' and cannot get right inside a G, I'm 5'11" and have no trouble. I personally like the ride better in the new G, but that isn't fair comparing a new car to one that is several years old. They are similar but very different.

I too get bored of cars fast, but I'm planning on holding onto my G for a while.

I do wish I would have gone with a Sport with Tech but what they had on the lot was too good a deal to turn down.
