My car is a nightmare in the wet, especially right now since it's also cold. I have zero traction when accelerating, and have lost the car TWICE in corners, not even driving hard.
I know beyond any doubt the tires are the culprit. They're literally the cheapest tires you can buy for the stock wheels, Barum Bravuris, which are about $70 each. They came with the car, before you ask.
I'm looking to replace them and just wonder what's recommended. Costco has some deals on BF Goodrich and Michelins right now. Living in Austin I have zero need for ice capabilities - we are known to cancel work if it's just cold outside. I suppose all-season would be the rational choice, although summer tires that can handle rain are also fine.

I have the 19 inch sport wheels with standard size up front an 265-35-19 in the rear, hankook Ventus V12 evo 2, they grip pretty well in the rain, they are quiet, and sticky as well, prolly the most optimal balance of everyday tread life and grip, they came with the car as well
Most any continental or Michelin will be a great tire, and generally those companies give the people that purchase the tires free roadside assistance

Tirerack website has tests , comparisons , most relevent - consumer ratings and specifically a section you can filter YOUR same car ,see everybody's likes / dislikes & why .It's just another "tool" to make a better informed decision , and virtually EVERY Brand & model has specs , (their) prices and a little description of what technology is in any particular tire , I know it's no BIG secret but to many who come "ON" here , it may be a new tip G 2/26/2018

I think Larz, who resides in Florida, has had good reviews about Pirelli Cinturatos. Others have chimed in that they work well with our cars in other climates as well.

Actually, I have reviewed Michelin and Hankook tires, but I believe it was IIya who wrote about Pirelli.
I found the review about the Hankooks and posted it below. If you want to get as close to Michelin as possible (handling, traction, stability) for a very reasonable price, I highly recommend Hankook Ventus S1noble2:

IMPORTANT: First you need to determine what 'class' of tire you want / need. I only use "ultra high performance All Season". I don't race or abuse my tires (or my car). However, living in the bottom of Florida, we get huge dumps of rain that make deep puddles and I wanted the extra (so they claim) grip for these conditions. The Ventus gave me great handling, fly paper grip, and a very quiet ride for a MUCH lower price than Michelin. After about 30,000 miles, they still had significant tread wear left, still performed at near new levels, but road noise increased, so I went back to Michelins. The road noise was the only drawback with the Hankooks.
However, most members are probably using 'touring' all season tires. This category is generally less expensive that the ultra high performance. NOT because they are worse in any way. Just a different tread design and composition.
I highly recommend you visit tire rack and play about on the website. You can view videos of just about any tire you fancy, and you can compare prices, and ratings for tread, wet, dry, snow traction. A very informative website. They will ship your tires to a shop near you and all you have to do is take your car there and have them installed.

All dis-MISSED-count tire does for me is - use airgun to -WAY overtighten lugs - which a torque wrench "clicks" WRONG - which strips my lugs - your sent to a (shill ) shop - which cost me more money

I hear you, mate. Most local tire shops are rubbish. There is a tires plus store not far from me. I used them ...once. They did an alignment (rather, they attempted). While waiting in the lounge ( more like Beetlejuice's closet), the tech brought me a print out that showed my before and after results. Mind you, I had no issues, just wanted to get an in-and-out alignment before leaving on a road trip. The 'before' diagram showed my wheel were so out of spec, you'd have thought I drove the car there sideways. I actually laughed at him and said "you're joking, right?". The 'after' diagram showed all is well and good. Driving home, there was a vibration that started at about 50 mph and became horrible at 70 mph. My first thought was to take it straight back and demand a re-do. Then, I thought what would be the point? Clearly they cannot do the job, and I would waste another hour to get the same phony graph and the same rubbish results.
From that day until now, I go to my local Infiniti dealer. I know I am paying more for everything there, but it's just one trip, I get a loaner, and my car comes back vacuumed, washed, and my time is never wasted. My latest set of tires was delivered by Tire Rack to my home and I covered the rear seat with a blanket, chucked the tires in, and had the dealer do the install, balance, an d alignment. I have no doubt that I was charged at least $50 more than the local TireCrap store, but I left with a loaner, and came back to a freshly cleaned, wheel / tire shined car.

mac, Check out - my alignment story is so close to yours -I goto the "F" shop , tell them an alignment with neg camber to the limits and gotta drive straight w/ reasonable "Steering wheel "on center" , and I went there only because of a "modern-computerized" Baer system , I believe. NOW before I left it I lightly greased ANY & ALL nuts & bolts - whatever hdw. involved in an alignment and threw dirt on them
So I'm called back , OK good ,in time to get to 2nd Job ,when I ask to see the "printout" - bef. and after - I took my time ,so "frontman" says yeah we didn't have to do MUCH - within specs . No , camber had ROOM for my request .ALWAYS bring 2nd SET of keys I ask for my keys to chk/test drive , underhood
NO hardware was TOUCHED ,I drove it ONLY to position a GETAWAY Back inside (ALWAYS polite) I say I see nothing -NO work done , WHAT'S the $59.95 FOR ?? With no explanation I politely ask if assistant/mngr "in" now , only Assist. mgr. Then I just say (because on printout TIME is first thing to look at ) " It' been on the "Rack TWO MINUTES & 58 SECONDS ! Igotta get to work - I'll call mgr TOMORROW With both keys in hand I do the "slow-but-steady" walk out ( like CHARLEY "walks like this" in the Three Stooges) - bust into my car and hit the road G 2/27/2018
