I figured I would update my old thread since anyone interested in wheels for their new M can see the path I took. 18" to 20" selection etc pain questions. Well my new Lexani CVX-44 20"x9 +40 rims came in . I threw on Toyo P4 245/35/20 all around and WOW. It definitely gave me the look and set the car off right. Just enough bling and pop and definitely a sporty look without looking dubbed out or ghetto. While I was in there I painted the calipers red and upgraded my stereo all around as well I will post that separate.

After the install I realized how big and wrong sized my 245/50-18 tires were for my car. The 50 series were from a m35X and my car is just RWD so I wonder if that is why looked so odd and too tall. Stock for the car was 245/45-18
This 20" is like .1" taller then stock setup so no issues and after a few hours the car dropped back down to stock ride height. About a WHOLE 1" from sitting up so jacked up. Now it looks good and the wheel gap looks stock not to bad.

Slowly working on my upgrades. I just bought TSW 18x8" Snettertons for good deal and kept stock tires since they are brand new. On separate 18vs19vs20 thread I debated back and fourth and was concerned for throwing out new rubber and spend $600+ on 19-20" tires plus rims and effecting ride quality and gap perception in wheel well. So on that note I am happy with 18 95% I still wonder what if 20" but I know I would want to lower fit for sure. Plus the tires I have are 50 series so they are too tall once they are worn out I will try 45 to get more aggressive look. But they definitely look sport clean and stock with upgraded look.

Exhaust: I went back and fourth tanabe, megan etc but I knew I wanted it installed by shop and called around and would have been $100 to have them do it PLUS the megans were the cheapest kit around and the tips look thin so I wanted to change those and tanabe were $550 plus labor. So I went to MadHatter in Tampa. Rocks! Magnaflow stainless exhaust and nice polished 4" dual tips installed and walked through each step for $480 out the door and we talked through sound etc next steps (tru duals)

The exhaust sounds sweet. Noticeable difference on any acceleration over 2k rpm. Idle sounds stock, at start of engine though definitely growls. There is a mild drone (I assume gets better once broke in) at highway speeds over 2.5k rpm just enough to hear the engine note with no radio, 4 clicks of the radio and it is gone but just saying you can hear it if you want but not obnoxious at all. in or out of the car

When you get on it part mid throttle it sounds like a V8 for real and seat of the pants difference is noticeable. I also noticed that at highway speeds my RPM at 70mph now have dropped about 200 rpm since I do not hold the gas as much. Maybe better gas mileage too. For sure I am curious if an INJEN or Fujita in take would sound like up front OR do I stay with just k&n drop in and maybe have the upper plenum port and polished.

I like the bigger exhaust tips, And I know it must sound nice!! The wheels, not so sure but if you like them thats all that matters...... Its a bit high, is this an X?? Or are the tires just thick??
My shop has been selling me on a custom magnaflow exhaust for a while now but I'm leaning more towards a megan racing system now.... I stopped my mods a few months ago as I was looking into a QX but it's outta my system now!! I'm getting back on it... Going to place the order on my roof spoiler and exhaust on phase one! Then, I have in mind the new intake from R2C for the M45 and JDM FUGA taillights(contemplated painting them but dont like that route).... No aftermarket wheels at the moment... Happy with my 19" sport wheels possibly powder coating a lil darker, but not much!! Also picked up a custom license plate since I decided to keep it..... Will update my old post from where I'm on 22" Versante and MKW or just make a new one :gotme
Overall good job adding your special touches... :bigthumb:

Yes i was surprised by the sound definitely deeper and mellow not raspy but hear it for sure in a good way inside and outside cabin

The rim yes they look good BUT they do not set the car off like i had hoped. Not sure if it is the style or the size? YES the tires are 245/50/18 WAY too tall but came with car and brand new so I will burn through them this year. I still might sell the originals on craigs maybe post these I got them for cheap then look for next style

I think with 245/45/18 they would look much better not as tall or smallish looking but I have seen 19 and 20 have the same appearance or worse when not lowered or with tall tires. But with 20 and springs it will effect the ride and road noise and I didn't want to do that and 19 tires are little more expensive to buy.

well hopefully you think it looks better then the stock outfit of rims LOL. Dont hate, but don't let a brother go outside in his leather Micheal Jackson jacket either you know what I am saying? do they look like arse?

Neighbor has 22 on his M35 and they are just so big and no profile on tire that it does effect ride sound gas etc and I drive so much with people in car that is not what I wanted nor wanted to show off 22 be more understated in my work role. 19 maybe 20 but then the styles I like are like 500 per wheel I got all 4 of these for 800

Love the exhaust! I think you should've done 19s at a minimum. However, 18s seem to fit your needs better. Who cares what other say/prefer, it's what you care that counts

Yes My needs or wants? I am feeling I need slightly bigger or that that mesh style with it appear smaller since even the stock 18 went out to the rim lip. I might call shop back (my friend) and see what I can do on exchange to get different bigger style 18 or go 19. The do ride great but 50 series are way to caddy for this car so maybe start there too but if I need to buy new tires why get 18 again now ugh decision and lost money! Story of our tuner lives right?

good look on the exhaust...the tips really fill in the back area...

I think the taller tire is what takes away from your wheel set up...its a give and take ratio...taller tire prolly is quieter ride...just an option: keep the TSW 18"s as your winter wheel/tire set up, sell your stocks and save up for 19"s or 20"s if you really want to go bigger...just a thought...otherwise, keep roll'n buddy....

Same thing happened to me with my first M! Picked out what I thought were some nice 20" .... When the car was driven out of the shop to the front I didn't even take the keys from the guy!! I told him to take that s*** back!! I'm going double deuce!! We have a very big wheel well and it just looked odd to me!! I did two sets of twenty twos and the one set of twenties on that M... On my current M I'm settled on stock now and very happy I might add!! Dropped on eibach's and with my other little touches I'm good..
Went through two sets of twenty twos on this M already!! :slap:
If I go after market again it'll be staggered twenties!!!! Roof spoiler order placed :)

Just spoke to me friend he will take them back maybe with no hit just depends but since I will be going 20 and tires well he will work with me. I will go with what he probably has in or on hand to make it easier he has huge high end selection. Like Vossen HHR MRR but I am thinking 20 MAYBE stagger but overall the mesh style didnt do it for me I ama 5 spoke guy and I though 5 spokes on this car would look too tuner/boy racer but now looking at sport 19 stock rims not so much

Well he gave my almost full refund on my rims!!!! SO I was at shop forver and had hard time loking for wheel I liked that also fit. He said most rims are 10.5" in back and no way he said can fit with rubbing or doing tweaking. EVen dealers for wheels said so. SO getting a staggeted set was out plus expensive for tires etc

End of day we fitted a Lexani CVX44 rim to the car it was hot still mesh style but definitely upscale and they are 9" we bolted one up and at +30 it stuck out we ordered a 20-9+40 wheel and they have to cut them and deliver and toyo proxy 4 245/35/ all around

Little more then what I expected like 400-500 more put definitely he said the one of highest end brand and style he had in his shop

Oh yes! YES, YES, YES!! I like these much better... Good choice on the tire, Toyo makes good stuff!! You could even go with 255/35/20"...more meaty but still 245/35 is a good combination!! Just stay with the "35" series. These are silver with a polished lip right?? I really like these :dblthumb: :bowrofl: :woot:

I was thinking with 9 all around I can do 255 or even 265 but 245 for now will work, future money pit buy LOL
Yeah my friend hooked me up like 339 a wheel plus 610 credit for my 800 on the original TSW. So little more money down and I should have a much nicer ride that is set off by these rims.

Yes they are 245/35/20

They are CVX-44 black with polished lip and stainless steel surface

Oh ok!! $2200+ with a hook up(-$700) is a good deal from what I'm looking at online stores... But still a pretty penny.... I'm really liking these wheels!! Thats why I researched them.... Good buy!! :dblthumb: you'll be happy!! 20"x9" great choice also!!

Yes bit he sold me, after the crappy 18 I had I realized this is a higher end car that rims have to match the style and lee else I te car tsw on a civic ok matches but looks off or just stock on an Infiniti so I ponied up

Thanks also it is hard to tell from these pics but they are concave style even at 9" you can tell in person n still have a 2" lip I think

Really a sick rim and the finish is bright yet almost titanium or gunmetal really cool sheen versus just polish or chrome

20x9 +40 should I be ok with out sticking out and no rubbing or scrapping on a 245/35/20 ? I assume so since the overall height and width are within .1" of the stock tire size at 245/45/18 and now it even has 50 series high are 1.25" taller then the stock spec!

Yes!! You should be just right!! You'll see... :dblthumb:
I was doing 22x8.5" +38 offset and I was in a lil to far. You should be flush... I still think 255/35/20" would be best!! :gotme check it out.... It will fill more space in that huge wheel well of the M!! Since you're not dropped....

If you just put the rim on without the weight of the vehicle it will look like it sticks out more than when you mount em and put it on the ground. To me a 20x9+30 with a 245 would fit and pretty much be flush. If you ever put on lowering springs you'll even gain some gap between the tire/fender.
