What is the proper belt tension for my drive belts. The service manual states new belt to be at 188-208lbs but the tension gauge BT3373F (which it states to use) only goes from 30lb-180. See link. This discrepancy makes no sense to me. Higher than 120 on this gauge is in the red as too much tension.

I asked Infiniti service, a Infiniti mechanic, consumer issues, and neither of them knew. If someone has this gauge or knows what they are tensioned to, pls help.

there is an auto tensioner with wear indicator. Nothing to measure.

Where is that? I had to set mine to where it "felt" right.

The V8s have auto tensioners, the V6s have to be manually set.
The spec is stated in the FSM, I can't recall where, but the standard method of belt tensioning is to find the longest distance between pulleys on a belt. Find the center point and push down/pull up with a certain force. IIRC, the belt deflection should be no more than 0.7 inches from center... or what feels right. Snug is good, the belt will stretch.

-No auto tensioner on a v6.
-The FSM states 188-208 lbs. Gauge doesnt go that high
- Already looked at the walkthrough but it doesnt have tension instructions. He just did what felt right.

I came across these numbers. "It's never too late," I've heard them say.
