I just got my 07 G35x yesterday. The front tires have 5/32 and back have 4/32 tread left. Do you guys recommend buying a set of all season and a set of snow tires or can I get away with all season tires alone. I live in Kansas City metro area and we get decent amount of snow and sleet/ice. The guy from tirerack recommended to go with Michelin Primacy for All season. I am thinking of buying the tires from Costco as they are just $60 more than tirerack and you get life time tire balance, rotation, inflation, road hazard... Let me know what you all guys think.

Our Subaru wagon has always had all season tires. It gets around Omaha, which has quite a few hills and worse winters than Kansas City, just fine. Dedicated winter tires will work better, especially for stopping, but are not really necessary. My biggest problem is the two wheel drive vehicles that get stuck in front of me. (For them, I would need a monster truck, not just different tires.) When you drive all season tires in the winter, you should replace them sooner than you would for summer use only. Traction isn't very good at marginal tread depths.

all-seasons should work unless you have to deal with tons and tons of snow. Realize that not all "all-season" designations are the same, thus I suggest you go to TireRack and see reviews of the different tire types.

My daughter did fine with Yoko Avid S-4 on her FWD Maxima in the snowy mountains of NC (ASU student).
I recently bought her Yoko ENVigors which are supposed to be even better in snow.
