07 G35x starting to rust like an 03 G35

You would think a redesign of the car might mean better quality and an improvement over the last generation... But guess not. My moms 07 G35x has rust forming where the left rear wheel is supposed to be. Which is exactly what happened to her 03 G35 and it got pretty ugly... i hope i caught it early and can help fix it. i just went out to do a little bit of rubbing off the rust and its less "orange" now but its still there and the metal is exposed. i just want to know if anyone else experienced rust on this part of the car (im aware others have rust spots on certain spots & underbody which my moms car has as well) But what should i do if i wanted to help fix it myself? and as you can see its rusting inside as well... smh

I mean all you can really do is sand off what you can and put some kind of protective coating.
